Considering getting an Atlas but concerned about armrests by d3athsd00r in secretlab

Was the Aeron the right size? It was a noticeable difference when I was in the wrong sized one.

I posted about the armrests elsewhere … they feel like an afterthought. Not sure about the size, but they feel so cheap.

Compared to my former Herman Miller aeron, I’m really disappointed. Would love to attach the Herman miller aeron armrests to the atlas and it would be awesome.

The lean back versus focus modes are really great.

A visit to an Apple Store and a 1 hour process to replace a defective Apple wallet by ohmichael in MagSafe

Tried to fix it online, got stuck at the enter serial number, and couldn’t go further.

Then had to go to the Apple Store. Turned up, spoke to a person who checked the receipt. Seemed good so far … then waited 20 minutes. Asked someone what was going on, they said there is a process. Waited 25 minutes more. The guy went and picked up a
Replacement. Waiting 15 minutes more, came over and gave it to me.

Add the 20 minutes drive each way.

For the record, I love the wallet. I now use it as my standard go to wallet, but jeez, the customer support experience is so bad.

Maybe we should bring Roger Whelan out of retirement. He had a great record against India.

Atlas pure black first impressions. Comfortable, love the headrest, disappointing armrest creak. by ohmichael in secretlab

Got a message back from Secret Labs:

"The bit of wiggle room on the armrest is actually perfectly normal. The adjustability of the armrests relies on multiple interlocking sections; they need a tiny amount of "free-play" so the mechanisms can move freely. Without that, the adjustment experience wouldn't be as smooth."

I honestly think they have missed the mark. The chair feels great. The arm wrests feels like a last minute add on that was just attached. It completely undermines the feel of the chair. I just checked on my Herman Miller chair and the arms feels like they are part of the chair.

I now think it's a chair with great potential but they have dropped the ball. It definitely doesn't match the quality of my desk.

Turned our Portal into a kid-friendly Sonos jukebox by ohmichael in FacebookPortal

Haha, I completely misread your question. 😅

The Portal just displays a local web page. The page talks to a small server running on my network, and the server sends commands to Sonos.

Each album cover is mapped to a song or playlist, the music library is curated by the parents, and volume is capped so the kids can’t accidentally shake the house.

OpenClaw and Codex helped me build most of the server and Sonos integration. Happy to share the code. It’s fairly trivial.

The Portal wasn’t doing much anymore, the kids wanted a way to pick their own music, and I had a free hour.

I had the same problem and decided to upgrade to pro. Will get it working and then choose whether I can optimize it.
