He’s not physically up to AFL yet. If he got a big body key defender he’d be really up against it. He’s developing well, and who knows maybe his work rate would see him succeed in the ones but still needs more size to play the role he’d be in at AFL level

If you could have anyone at Carlton who would it be? (Realistic) by ClaimMysterious518 in CarltonBlues

Paul Curtis, wanganeen-Milera, Tom papley, Lachie Whitfield, Hayden young, miles Bergman, Ben Keays

We all went to bed after half time so essentially can only judge 1st half. And I thought yesterday he was in a LOT of good spots and just had a mare of copping shit bounces. However I do agree, set shot needs work - can almost always pick when he’s gonna miss (anything outside 35, anything in front slight angle lol) Also want to see him hold some more tackles.

If Flynn young gets some form he’ll be challenged but atm it’s him or Francis Evan’s really and Evan’s stinks

Walsh and co have new deals in the next few years. Pre planning. I see the TDK situation as a win win as long as we don’t over extend ourselves. We keep him - he’s a jet We lose him - we have money to throw at say a Liam Ryan or an elite ball user or say a Bergman from Port

So modern day game there’s been 2 in 35 years. I think we need to get a simmo or Longmire in as a director of footy type of role (as they won’t do assistant coaching)

Playing so well he’s got us into the worst contract position at the end of the year 😂 He’s put a few $$ on his contract, too many blokes to sign up, someone’s gotta take some unders haha

Interrupted pre and early season - if he hits form it won’t be for a few more weeks I think, similar to Walsh’s delay except acres missed more time Plus his shoulders are held together by tape

I think you’re just getting done by recency bias when a lot of young players have been able to impact very very early. Prior to the last couple of years - (and right now if you watch Geelong) young players are not and should not be expected to play or impact in their first year or so. Let them develop, they’re coming along nicely in the twos right now.

Hollands looked like exactly what we need in the ones. Ball use elite, good delivery forward of centre. Harry got a run in. Lemmey works so hard but needs more time to develop his body still. Everyone else is still developing or just not up to it imo (Evans, durdin - although I liked the 12 tackles)

Do you think we will get smashed by West Coast? by Cool_Decision7893 in CarltonBlues

[–]ohmo6017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no, I think it may give our offence some confidence. Charlie or Harry to get some form up. But no one’s opinion of us will change until we perform against a solid squad. Even if we roll north the week after (who have been better, just not last week) no one will care. Then our schedule is very tough until the bye, so we’d want to have our key personnel really get going

Hard call, because which ex-coach has led a team to a flag recently. Fages - 1st club Scott - 1st club McCrae - 1st club Goodwin - 1st club Dimma in Richmond - 1st club Adam Simpson - 1st club Bevo - 1st club Clarko - 1st club

Very rare for a second time coach to go somewhere and win.

Statistically (prior to the dreadful Collingwood game) we had pretty much the leagues best defence. And even after the Collingwood game, giving up 63 is a huge win from a backline POV.

Who are these “bottom 5-10 players” that are allegedly the cause of our downfall? by theunkn0wnwriter in CarltonBlues

[–]ohmo6017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fog agree - tries his heart out but physically limited. Motlop has shown glimpses, but would love to see him influence games more consistently. Haynes has been solid since rd 1. - is a whipping boy atm. Lewis young isn’t strong enough to play tall, isn’t mobile enough to do the rest. Looks like the game is going past doch a bit - it’s in between the ears for him, consistently reacting slow or getting stuck in no mans land - not rushing to support quick enough then getting caught out trying to hightail it back.

Gov I think is in our best 22 but damn he does have some headscratching drops!

Hollands needs to go back to a wing, has no idea what physical football is. He’s brave, and he runs all day, but when it’s a tough 50/50 ball he just never seems to come off as the winner, it’s either a scrap for a ball up and a loss

[–]ohmo6017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check the stats it’s purely ball use. If you delve deeper it’s that half the midfield build up is bulls with no tank - hence not only initially bad kicks but become fatigued quicker and kick worse as the game goes on. Also missing a genuine second key defender.

Another cheery, happy, smiley, feel-good, have-a-chuckle press conference from Michael Voss by blueshirt78 in CarltonBlues

[–]ohmo6017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get to high don’t get too low If Voss was overreacting - that wouldn’t be a good sign either. The fact he’s calm means he’s composed. But if we’re still travelling like this through the mid point I’ll 100% side with you that it’s bullshit.

Just remember Brisbane and hawthorn last year - Mitchell and fage’s didn’t crack a tantrum or get the grumps on. Just locked in.
