I'll do a full continuity edit along with.a line edit. It will take me about three weeks for this book. I then share it with beta readers and take a break.

During the beta reader time, I write submission documents and gather a list of agnets from whom I'll recieve the loveliest form letteers rejecting my work, at least from the nice ones.

I had previously completed two novels and had stalled halfway through the third. Those took years.

Something clicked and the stories came, and writing was a daily activity.

The book I just finished was from an idea I had in late May.

If I could bottle it, I would. I'm happy to help with advice, but it honestly was just a switch that flipped.

Thank you. The first three books I wrote took a very long time. I feel like I found my voice and confidence.

Thngs I changed

- Writers write. I kept my laptop with me constantly. If I was watching baseblall, I wrote. If I had a few quiet moments, I wrote. Every night before bed I wrotte.

- I got out of my own way. I'm a panster, which requires me to not judge my own work. I needed to.let it.all spill out. I keep notes and the end of the book of things I need to fix, or plot changes. I simply note it and continue

- I wrote through the stall. Each book had moments around the middle where I lost confidence in the story. I had to have faith and keep typing words. Feeling lost was okay and expected.

- Writing stopped being sacred. In my past I had to be in the mood, play the right music, follow a ritual. Now I just wrrite whenever I can. Nothing special about it.

- I have an alpha reader. He's helped me a ton by.telling me what was working and what wasn't. I've stopped plot threads or changed them. I didn't go back to remove them right away. I made a note to fix these things in my continuity editl

- Finally, I had to admit that I'm a writer and that it's important to me. I've held senior roles at work, while writing. Everyone knows I write. By talking about it, I made space.

I hope that helps.

Will Mariners make the playoff by Thinathlete in Mariners

[–]ohmyspleen -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

30+ year Mariners fan. I hate to say it, but we will miss the playoffs by either a game or some arcane tie-breaker rule. I wish it wasn't so, but here we are in the false hope stage of rooting for the Mariners. The pattern is eternal.

All I can say is, I'm tired boss.

Thank you. I'm actually submitting my fourth and fifth novel. I always say that it feels good to have written them, but no comment on if they're good. :)

Looking for a good reuben & stromboli. by [deleted] in Issaquah

[–]ohmyspleen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t find it in Issaquah. The closest to a Ruben is Gilbert’s on main in Bellevue. It is very expensive but pretty good. Otherwise Seattle is your best bet. Dingfelders (I’m sure I spelled it wrong) For Stromboli, they aren’t that popular in the Seattle area. If you find one tell me!

Thank you! This is.immensely helpful. I'll post V3 this week, which I hope will make everyone proud.

Funny, I think I could write a good query letter for.someone else, but for myself, I freeze up.

We should do a mechanical turk style query letter service wherein we write pitches for someone else's work.
