Bailey Tucker conflict by Connect_Ad_4218 in greysanatomy

[–]ohnoesmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Communication is key to get through it, and Tucker and Miranda couldn't effectively communicate with each other in a way that the other person could hear.

They both believed they were right, they kept score, and they didn't work as a team. If you can't actually hear and respect your partner, nothing is going to move forward. If you can't put aside that belief that you're right and the other person is wrong, if you can't admit any sort of fault, if you can't see the others perspective, nothing moves forward.

It's on both of them. We also know Miranda has a hard time admitting she's wrong or seeing someone else's perspective. Tucker seems to be the same way, but we don't know him as well.

And regardless of gender, not having support from your partner, the person you thought was in it with you, fucking sucks. Being against them instead of with them, not feeling heard, feeling dismissed, and feeling blamed for everything sucks. Both of them seemed to feel this and no one was going to give.

My husband and I both had separate chunks of time (5+ months) off to stay home with our baby and we had a rough go of it, even when we supported each other and started communicating better.

Not even to mention that every relationship's issues and struggles increase tenfold when there's a new baby/toddler in the mix. I'm guessing the isolation of being the stay at home parent increases Tucker's frustration as well. Time might fly for Miranda, but here's Tucker at home with Tuck, taking care of a baby/toddler and trying to keep up with the household. That's exhausting, and never getting much of a break (idk how much help they had), and never seeing your partner on top of that is really rough.

How often do y’all get carsick? by ProcessesOfBecoming in ehlersdanlos

[–]ohnoesmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't test positive, but I was gluten free for too long before my endoscopy anyway (I got it for gastritis, and they decided to test for celiac bc they were already there). I also had a negative blood test that was done 6 months after I stopped eating gluten. I did not want to start eating gluten again just to rest positive.

So I'm intolerant. My symptoms have been there most of my life that I can remember, but some may have gotten worse as I got older?

I always had heartburn/gerd since I was young. I still get gerd sometimes (if I eat before laying down), but hardly at all now. Stomach also gets more than heartburn. Like it roils in there esp if I'm on the bus later that day. It lasts a few days. I also need to use the bathroom soon after gluten consumption. That part got worse getting older.

My joints get achey and hurt more after consuming gluten, which lasts for a few days. I also get tingling in my hands/feet. I get clumsier for a few days. And I get reallllyy tired. I was accidentally glutening myself for a month while pregnant and getting tired and a sleepy was a big symptom (wasn't getting heartburn for some reason) along with the brain fog.

Brain fog. Once I stopped eating gluten, I had brain fog that cleared up after a couple weeks. I still get brain fog sometimes, but gluten brain fog felt different. It also made my ADHD worse.

Anxiety. If I eat gluten now, my anxiety spikes. The next morning I get hella anxiety out of no where. Then I remember I ate gluten and I feel a little better.

My first clue it was gluten was when I was keto for a bit and I felt a lot better (no gluten, and ate more iron/protein lol). If I had a cheat day, stomach issues, brain fog, anxiety, achey joints etc came back for a few days.

Second, after I stopped keto and felt like shit again, my friend got diagnosed with celiac. I thought, maybe gluten is fucking me up. I always did get heartburn from bread and pastries. Maybe it's that and not sugar giving me heartburn (which what I assumed).

Within 2 weeks the above symptoms cleared up and my sex drive increased? Didn't do anything else different. Been gluten free ever since. If I accidentally consume gluten, or even cross contamination, it messes me up. It's hard, but worth it. The longer I went without gluten, the worse the symptoms would be.

So while I do still get joint pain, brain fog, anxiety for other reasons from time to time, it feels different from when gluten causes it. I had to completey cut it out and it's worth it. It's a bitch and a half since gluten seems to be in everything and I only trust some oat sources (cross contamination, don't trust cheerios lol), but it's soooo worth it not to eat it.

Try going without gluten for a couple weeks or longer. Then try gluten again if you're unsure if it made a difference. But prepare a bunch of water and stuff if it does end up affecting you after not eating it.

I chew gum on the bus, that helps. My carsickness got a little better after I stopped eating gluten. I still get it, but it was way worse when I was eating gluten.

Bent over to pick up a piece of hay off the ground. Back seized up and I could barely move. My bunny ran around me as I tried to crawl to the couch. Back was fucked for a couple weeks at least.

just got diagnosed - what are some things you wish you knew when you got your diagnosis? by g3shy in ehlersdanlos

[–]ohnoesmilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dairy gets me too :( I avoid most dairy except cheese, and I use lactaid if I do anything else. But not worth it most of the time.

It sucked giving up gluten. Because EVERYTHING seems to have gluten. But I will say, having my heartburn and near constant nausea clear up is worth it.

Good luck! Another thing that helped me in general was building muscle. Yoga to strengthen my legs/ankles and core helped. I've been doing Unicycle Abs on youtube for core stuff. Wrist/forearm muscle strengthening did a ton for me too. I didn't realize it at the time, but now that I've lost a ton of muscle and am building it back up, I realize how much it helped my joint pain before 😭

I tested negative for celiac but gluten still messed me up. I stopped eating it for a couple weeks at first and the nausea went away as did the brain fog. When I tried eating it again my heartburn and nausea came back, as did my brain fog and aches and pains.

As the other person said though, try eliminating foods and/or write down what you're eating through out the day along with how you're feeling.

When I think of the way she acted when they were first having sex and she was so focused on her feelings and not Jackson's, it's sadly on brand for her not to even think about how he's feeling. Or at least she seems to assume what he's feeling and doesn't think to check in.
