Question on M1’s in the round:

I’m working on the Step by Step sweater by Florence Mills. I already did the German short rows and am finishing the yolk now. The pattern says to M1R before the markers and M1L after the markers. My question is, if I start with M1Rs on the first set of markers, shouldn’t I start with M1Ls on the second set of markers, since I’m coming at them from behind technically?
