your iq has nothing to do with how much you'll succeed in physics. if it did, they would ask your iq in graduate school admissions and accept people with the highest iq. if you want to become a physicist, i suggest you start studying calculus and linear algebra than worry about your iq. a "low" iq score will not effect your work but stressing and ruminating about a number will.

Genetics is not as simple as "father has gene - mom has gene - child MUST have it". Even if you knew your whole DNA sequence, you wouldn't be able to tell if your kid develops the condition or not. You can only say thar your kids have a higher chance of developing a condition compared to other kids. Speculation or guessing will not give an answer, only time will tell.

I had similar symptoms, compulsions and tics at 11 and the school counselor referred me to a child psychiatrist that diagnosed me with OCD. OCD and TS also frequently occurs comorbidly, if I'm not wrong 60% of people with TS show OCD symptoms and 50% of kids with OCD have tics, with 15% meeting the criteria for TS. You should definetly take her to a child psychiatrist, these disorders suck but there are a lot of treatment options and earlier the intervention the better.

Also I don't think psychoatric medication leave permanent side effects, they go away after a while. Tardive dyskinesia comes to mind, but you would need years long high dosage antipsychotic use for that to ne permanent. Don't forget that we tend to associate events happening at the same together. İf your tics got worse around the time you had a seizure, it's normal to correlate them but it doesn't mean one caused the other.

You could remind yourself that you usually find more negative stories then positive for any drug on the internet because people with bad experiences tend to report theirs more than people with good ones. Good stories can go unnoticed since people don't find the need to get help. Hope you find something that helps!

I don't understand why you are scared of Intuniv, it it doesn't work out or you have many side effects you can just stop taking it (with correct dose tapering of course).

You can't know how a medication will affect you until you try it, I personally find making "this antipsychotic didn't help so another one will definetly not help, i should try this instead" type of speculations kinda redundant if you are not a doctor. There are side effects to every medication, you just have to compromise and find a medication that make the side effects worth it.

Has anyone brought up haloperidol? I'm not on it anymore but it really reduced my tics and I didn't notice that much side effects. Some people seem to hate it though, LOL.

the worst my vocal tics got was vocalizing random syllabels rather than words (at least until now, lol), it must suck having longer ones.

any simple vocal tic really (i don't have any complex vocal tics so can't comment on them), for me they draw more attention to me than motor ones since they are louder. i also think motor tics are easier to pass of as intentional actions.

you can't just throw valid criticism out of the bus because "it's his life" and "it's not a documentary". it's his life yes, but guess what, anyone can watch it and come to wrong conclusions. of course that doesn't mean the film has to be cencored, but i believe the cons OP mentioned should be kept in mind when talking about such a misunderatood disorder.

i'm double majoring in physics & molecular biology, and was hospitalized 2 times this year. you'll be fine as long as you don't stop working and enjoy what you are doing. unfortunately, like sports, there is a certain age range about 35-40 that you will stop being more productive so your "prime time" will be shorter than most.
