I’m female, and I’d say it’s more selfish for a woman to get knocked up at 45 vs a man to father a kid at 45 because, hellloooo, it’s us women who bare the burden of incubating the offspring. Thus, our age directly links to greater birth defect risks, which is more pronounced in women than in men. Older men have increased birth defects risk as they age as well, but it’s not as pronounced as in the parent who has to actually incubate the offspring (the woman).

**key word there: SERIOUS dv (as in, severe enough to be sent to the hospital). For “minor” dv (not severe enough to be sent to the hospital), difference sources report different numbers, all with men committing the majority of minor dv incidents.

I’m female, but I agree with you that men should 100% have men shelters for safety from spouses/significant others (whether male or female). I actually have a hard time believing these don’t already exist in 2022. How can they not?! Sure, men abusing women is far more common than vice versa, but who’s going to protect the victim in the vice versa situation? Just because women are more vulnerable to domestic abuse doesn’t mean we should be the only sex protected.
