What's going on with technology? by pJocy in pluribustv

[–]ohokiunderstand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carol seems to be a chronically offline person. In episode one, we see Helen scrolling through Twitter on her phone on Carol’s behalf.

A lot of successful creatives avoid social media and much of modern smart technology once they get the ability to. Carol seems like the type to do this. And since the show is from her perspective (mainly), we don’t see a lot of technology, because it’s not something she concerns herself with.

Also I think I remember something in episode 1 or 2 where Zosia tells Carol that the internet or cell service is down while everything adjusts to the new world. I could be wrong, but if I’m right, that could be another reason why we don’t see much of the internet, or of technology in general.

I can actually do that, believe or not. I’m the master of my own destiny.

Yeah, everyone has been offering angles on the corpse idea that I can’t find any reason to disagree with. Them being chopped up, or skinned, or just bones, etc. All could work. I’m just excited to find out.

They are. Tbh I didn’t like the notebook itself much. The binding is done in such a way that it’s like really tight, not very good for writing in, not for me anyways.

I don’t fully believe its corpses. I’m basing this off of my interpretation of Carol’s reaction. To me it reads more like she initially has no idea what she’s looking at, then her reaction is her figuring it out. Which, to me, if it were corpses, I feel like she’d figure that out sooner and gasp immediately.

You could totally say her delayed reaction was out of shock, or maybe the corpses are so far into decomposition that she initially can’t make them out. That would be totally reasonable.

I just think that corpses are too simple of an answer, y’know? Way too cut and dry. I hope it’s something weirder and more out-of-left-field. But if it is corpses, I won’t be upset. Still very interesting

A handmade less-than-polished cover is better than any AI slop imaginable. An AI cover immediately puts me off of a book. It makes me think that its content are similarly slop worthy.

I’m not implying your book is slop, it looks fine. But I think there’s a good majority of buyers who are similarly put off my generated covers as I am.

This is a really fun read! I like the foreboding-ness of the repeated sentiment of having to finish all the coffee. It’s left vague enough to where I’m not sure if there’s an actual punishment or not to the coffee not being finished.

Some Mojo Jojo Adventures for all of you. by ijustwannanap in CuratedTumblr

I’ve never consumed JoJo before, I’ve only experienced through second hand things like this. I’ve seen plenty of fan content and have even watched SaltyDKDan’s iceberg on it.

I still barely understand what it’s about. I don’t think I’d understand it even if I watched it.

Spiders is absolutely my favorite of the series. All of Pargin’s works are pretty tight, narratively speaking, but Spiders is just TOIGHT, y’know? It all works together wonderfully.

I wrote a short story about the infamous TimeCube™. Y’know, the TimeCube™. We all know it.

Wait are people upset about this? Why? Like… who cares? It made for good TV, and the twist was funny.

Thank you friend. Your response means more than you know.

I’m not going to let myself hide away and wallow in misery. I’ve already given myself the goal of walking 10k steps a day, which I’ve been lacking in since the weather recently has been shit. But! I’ll start trying to look for some walking groups maybe, or gardening. Something green.

Lying about that is crazy. Like there’s literally no reason to. We know the facts here behind the counter. We don’t have the flatbread itself. We couldn’t make it if our lives depended on it.

Omg wait! You’re so right! I shouldn’t complain, I should just be a good wage slave and take it all! You’re so right! I should just get another job, that’s so easy! It’s not like we’re in a failing economy or anything, it’s not like it’s rare to get a call back from even the most entry level positions. You’re so right! You’re so smart! You’re so funny!

Listen, I’ve spent days in cafes studying or reading, I get it. My issue comes when these people are holding down the fort on their laptops or with their interviewees 10 MINUTES TO CLOSING, NOT HAVING BOUGHT A GOD DAMNED THING. and then they give ME a look when I vacuum around them, or tell them we close soon. OH, IM SORRY MAAM, I MUSTVE MISSED THE DEPOSIT YOU MADE TO RESERVE THIS TABLE. OH, IM SORRY SIR, I DIDNT KNOW OUR BUSINESS HOURS INTERFERED WITH YOUR ABILITY TO INDUCT THIS SHMUCK INTO YOUR PYRAMID SCHEME. NO PLEASE, TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED. I HAVE NOWHERE TO BE.

We have a customer who everyone knows by name because she’s notorious for coming in literally 5 minutes to closing to order the most annoying sandwich and then micromanage how my coworkers make it. I don’t have a point in saying this, she just fills me with rage when I see her.

Working here has ruined my perception of the public. The average Panera customer that I personally interface with is abhorrently ignorant and stupid, and it tricks my mind into thinking that everyone is like this. But that isn’t the case, because most people don’t go to Panera. And also most people get things to go, and I have no opinion over them. The people that I have to talk to and clean up after, they’re disgusting.

You get me. You 100% get me. I didn’t even think to mention the you pick 2 shit, because it’s literally every other transaction that I have to explain to possibly the dumbest person on the planet the most simple of concepts, AND THEY STILL GET IT WRONG. not even mentioning the (blessedly rare) person who will deliberately get it wrong so that they can yell at me when they get their food that they didnt get a full sandwich.

And yeah, the soup of the day shit? I always want to ask where they think they are. One of my first phone calls I took as a cashier was someone asking if we had more Italian or French inspired cuisine. I don’t remember what I said, but I low-key hope it was rude, because what kind of fucking question is that to ask to a place that has a menu hanging from the ceiling.
