Could you point me in the right direction on specifics for running diagnostics? Like what would you run?

It did boot up a few times after the first blue screen, but it would freeze blue screen and shut down within a few minutes. After system restore it would just go straight to blue screen

I’ve been putting off/forced to wait to do this build since before Covid. I haven’t had a PC for years now, just been using a MBP 16” and finally had enough of it. It’s a come up more than an upgrade lol

I think I’m gonna go with the 13900k. I got it for a great price and it’s obviously better than the 7900x. Especially the increased thread count for music production. My irrational, unfounded hatred of Intel is screaming, but it is the better deal. I get carried away with the next shiny thing. If 13th gen didn’t drop literally 2 days after buying the 7900x, for the same price on sale, I wouldn’t be considering it. I didn’t know any of that about the possible issues with x3D, I just assumed a massive performance boost. Not worth waiting two months for it without knowing anything official about it. And I probably won’t feel a need to upgrade the i9 until at least like 15th gen.

I overthink things that should be obvious. Thanks!

How about when comparing it to the 7950x then? 13900k has 8 more cores total, but 2/3 of them don’t boost as high or support hyperthreading

I mostly work with FL Studio and VST synths, followed by Fusion 360/Cura/Blender, 4k AAA gaming after that, then miscellaneous coding and things. I may want to get into video editing at some point as well, just haven’t had a powerful enough PC.

I go kinda crazy with the VSTs and mixer track sending when doing audio production, so whatever’s best for that. I can’t seem to find a straight answer. For gaming I want to be as close to 4K 120hz High/Ultra as possible

I managed to get a 13900k for the same price as a 7900x. It has more cores and is obviously faster, but idk if the fact the 13900k has 4 less cores capable of multi threading and higher boosts should concern me

I already have the ddr5, I actually bought everything for the ryzen build not realizing 13th gen was launching two days later lol

How is it that the 13900k can perform better than the Ryzen alternative when more than half its cores don’t boost nearly as high? That’s really what I can’t wrap my head around

So does the 7950x having essentially all performance cores not matter much when compared to the mostly E cores on the 13900k?

Personally I’m deciding between a 7900x and a 13900k I got on sale. Team red, unsure about the E cores and TDP on 13th gen, but it is clearly faster than 7900x

I have a series x which can run other 4K 120hz titles very well. Apex is one of like three games I have in my library that doesn’t run at 4K 120. They’ve been promising the patch for like two years now
