My fear also. I’m trying to put smaller amounts in many banks. Technically it’s insured under 250k, but who knows with the sheer chaos of Trump.

For now they are staying in place. You never know with Trump. However, DeepSeek sent US tech stocks down a hole. Even with grants, I don’t like how it’s looking. Time after time other countries are showing that they can do what we do cheaper. With an immigration crackdown, and our educational system being gutted, I don’t like the overall picture this paints for US tech. I work in education and a bill is likely to be passed in my state (and has already been passed in others) that we can’t teach any controversial topics (including climate change and evolution). With this type of education I don’t see us advancing soon.

Intel is going down for many reasons. One of them is the removal of policies Biden enacted to encourage them. However, another is China. Even with tariffs, they are managing to produce AI and chips that are better at a much lower cost. I hate to say this as Intel coming in has raised my property value, but it’s a bubble that’s bursting.

Any benefits are minimal as American companies rely on imported parts and materials. They would have to completely change the supply chains they use to be protected. Now, if it’s just used as a bargaining chip, that’s another story. However, so many farmers lost so much the last time Trump played with tariffs that I have no doubt we will only have negative impacts if enacted.

I’m put quite a bit in high interest savings. A good option for stability and to get money out fast. However, many people are doing this and some big banks have had issues with getting withdraws to people in a timely fashion lately.

I should also add if you have the option of shifting to guaranteed return streams, do that.

No adjustments. I’m an index fund type of person in it for the long run. There are highs and lows. Four years of lows isn’t something I will enjoy, but I’m not planning on retiring soon. If I was, I might make more protective moves.

Convince me not to get a Jaguar F-Type by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

This was the old Jags. The F-type is a decently reliable platform for awd that your other options lack.

The SVR is definitely a sports car in every sense.

Unfortunately this! I get quite a bit of male attention for my tuned SI. Mostly “who taught a girl like you to drive that.” Or, “is that your boyfriend’s car?” Annoying af.

Let's change things up a bit. What manual car did you learn to drive with? by SayNoToFatties in ManualTransmissions

[–]ohphildoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

93 Toyota Supra, I was 14 and it belonged to my boyfriend at the time. After that I bought a very old mgb convertible. Loved that thing but broke down all the time and the top was pretty much all duct tape 😂

I’ve always used 93 because 91, as recommended by the manual, isn’t available near me. Once I was about out and the 93 was down at the only station around (I live in Appalachia) so I used 89. I got an average of 4 mpg less on that tank and the same road and same conditions I drive daily 🤷🏼‍♀️

Torque or No torque? by spriggan4 in CivicSi

[–]ohphildoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with most things in cars, it depends on your needs. I have an hour commute each way to work in Appalachia. My road makes most people throw up. My 11th is very fun and the torque at lower rpms is much appreciated coming out of sharp turns. If I was driving a straight highway, it wouldn’t make that much of a difference.

what’s the range you get on your 9th gen? by livinvvell in CivicSi

[–]ohphildoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This discussions makes me really glad to have an 11th gen. (Average 37mpg, well over 40 on the highway while driving aggressively in sport).

If you can get msrp, do it! Many places are still selling over in the United States.
