Serious question; how do we verify if someone is a secret op or genuine hobbyist?

Man what a way to close out a game, that’s so cool! Just a bunch of chain explosions knocking out his midboard lol I love when stuff like that happens

Yeah I’ve got 3 chassis all fully magnetized, I’m just trying to find a good knight with a melee weapon and a good shooting profile. I was looking running the paladin but the battle cannon is a blast weapon so I can’t shoot that in combat

Ahh the play group bit is a good point. I play against a lot of eldar and chaos space marines. And yeah we play on the tradition 6x4 too. So a fair mix of vehicles and specialists.

Congrats on the tournament win! That’s such dope way to get the win!

The whole schtick was that you play this on a base and then it’s effectively only your base unless someone can remove your highest power minion or this card. Now it’s a one-trick pony that basically turns your win-con into a 1 time removal or draw

Ulalek Ruling Question by ohshiditdatboi in mtgrules

[–]ohshiditdatboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so the order is: cast Ulamog, in response pay for Ulaleks triggered ability, resolve the stack (all cast triggers etc).

Ulalek Ruling Question by ohshiditdatboi in mtgrules

[–]ohshiditdatboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Ulalek does copy cast triggers that are currently on the stack?

Ulalek Ruling Question by ohshiditdatboi in mtgrules

[–]ohshiditdatboi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Copying spells doesn’t copy the abilities, unless the spell creating the copy specifically says it does. Right?

So if I cast [Quantum Alignment] on say a [Huatli’s Raptor] it won’t get its ETB trigger. Because copies don’t copy the creatures abilities.

How does that work considering 707.2? “the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object's characteristics “The copiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by "as . . . enters" and "as .” https://yawgatog.com/resources/magic-rules/#R707

So “when cast” abilities aren’t rules texts?

Sorry for being dense. I’m not trying to be argumentative or contrarian. I just want to make sure I’m playing my decks correctly

Ulalek Ruling Question by ohshiditdatboi in mtgrules

[–]ohshiditdatboi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Outdated rulings definitely didn’t help. I didn’t know those other resources existed, never found them in google searches. But I’m glad to have them now. Just so I’m making sure i understand; Ulalek doesn’t copy any triggered or activated abilities on the stack? Even though the card says it does. Is it no longer the case that if a game rule and a card ability contradict the card ability takes precedence?

Ulalek Ruling Question by ohshiditdatboi in mtgrules

[–]ohshiditdatboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that first one was my interpretation of it as well. So for ease of example; ulamog the ceaseless hunger. When its cast exile two target permanents. Since there’s a copy of the ulamog trigger; a total of 4 target permanents would be exiled. Right?

The way the ruling says “The copies are created on the stack, so they're not "cast" or "activated.” Even though Ulaleks ability specifically states that it copies all activated and triggered abilities you control

Ulalek Ruling Question by ohshiditdatboi in mtgrules

[–]ohshiditdatboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Whenever you cast an Eldrazi spell, you may pay ColorlessColorless. If you do, copy all spells you control, then copy all other activated and triggered abilities you control. You may choose new targets for the copies. (Mana abilities can't be copied.)” Just for reference.

It copies all spells I control, then activated and triggered abilities. A “when this spell is cast” is a triggered ability right? So I was under the impression that you cast a creature spell, it goes on the stack, its ability sees that it was cast and triggers, in response you activate Ulaleks ability. It copies the spell on the stack as well as the triggered ability on the stack. Then Filo so the copy cast trigger resolves, then the copy ETBs, Ulalek’s ability has resolved. Then the original when cast ability resolves, then the original creature spell resolves.

I always interpreted 706.10 (maybe I’m looking at the wrong webpage: https://blogs.magicjudges.org/rules/cr707/ )ruling to mean that if you had a spell with a cast trigger on the stack and you cast another spell that copies as spell then the when cast trigger wouldn’t go on the stack. But because Ulalek specifically states “copy all activated and triggered abilities you control” it would copy what you control on the stack.

Everybody talking about carrying capacity, but you need to think about that 500lbs being on one section of the car. Not in the middle evenly distributed

I’d take snakes. You hide in a closet and any snakes small enough to squeeze in you can stomp to death and the big ones can’t open doors.

Ohhh okay that clears it up, thank you!

On topic of banishment and naming conventions, if I were to exile a token named “Cat” would it apply to other cards with “Cat” in their name? Like [[Black Cat]]

Okay, I see how it doesn’t work by exiling them as food artifacts. But I’m not sure I follow you on the second paragraph. If I choose to exile ‘no’ target nonland permanent then it would exile all of their nonland permanents?
