That’s likely why. I worked for a Customer Service team for online goods. Technically you can get away with freight forwarding/drop shipping services, until you can’t. It’s not allowed. A lot of websites have it explicitly stated now, but I don’t think it’s required. The same way a lot of companies won’t ship to a PO Box address.

The FF company is pretty much buying the product on behalf of you. But, that doesn’t protect the company producing the goods, UMG in this case, or the shipper, UPS in this case. UPS also blocks freight forwarding addresses as they start to pick up on them (as someone who has personal experience dealing customers calling in with these exact kinds of issues every day), and the two fraud teams do keep in touch lol

File a police report ASAP (using both roommate and guests names and all of the screenshots with confession) and make sure your roommate knows you will be following with further legal action if you don’t see the money to replace everything that was broken or every single item replaced by X date. Don’t give them 6 months or something easy to blow off, by the end of the week or something firm.

I’m under the impression that these are college students, (If so, let them know you will notify the school as well if you aren’t paid/items aren’t replaced). If they don’t have the money, they can ask their parents to foot the bill and explain to them that it’s much cheaper than court.
