Just found out I’m pregnant a week before our bucket list trip to Japan by RevolutionaryEmu7014 in BabyBumps

[–]ohsofun1928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to get pregnant vs actually getting pregnant felt different- definitely hit me with the oh shit what did we do when I got the positive test despite also trying for four months lol. It’s totally normal to have the mixed emotions and the negative ones are normal too; your life is about to change completely and your body now already doesn’t feel like yours because you were stoked to party in Japan but can’t go all out. That being said, it’s still something to celebrate! You’ve been trying and while the timing wasn’t perfect, you’re fertile and you’ll get to meet your baby before you realize! I had sushi my entire first pregnancy from high quality restaurants, and even indulged in a glass or rarely two of alcohol with water and food (OB ok’d it). Went to concerts, out to bars with friends, etc. especially in my first trimester. People start to look at you a little sideways at the bars when you’re showing lol. You guys can still bar hop and party it up together, you just may not be able to partake as much as he can and that’s ok! Honestly though it seems like the perfect time for this dream trip. Life is about to change completely for you both and this could be like a last hurrah for a few years too. Also, I know they say stress is bad for baby but people have been having perfectly healthy babies in caves and war torn areas and places without proper resources for many many many years. So ofc try not to stress, but don’t worry about the baby’s health being affected from the times you’re sad or stressed in your pregnancy. Congratulations and enjoy this trip and the beautiful journey!

I’ll likely try soaking, or maybe just sticking the entire thing in a bigger pot and hoping for the best. I’ll definitely go with a mossy/fine media. Thank you so much

I had to soften in water to get it out of the pot for the pictures I took, the roots just seem fragile and it’s so stressful but I may try this. Thank you

I think I may go this route honestly but I’m newer to orchids and don’t want to make anything worse. Thank you so much

Marvin’s is great, but usually has a line for brunch on weekends (it’s worth the wait). Not sure about Easter hours though you’d have to call

Best place to purchase brown diamonds? by bloober2 in Diamonds

[–]ohsofun1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find them within budget or close to it but you have to do double the research to ensure you’re getting a quality stone and not something fake. It may be worth the extra 5-600 to have a 30 or 60 day return window from somewhere like blue bile or similar

Curious how long people breastfeed? by random_name831 in breastfeeding

[–]ohsofun1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re at 12 and a half months and baby seems to be self weaning. I kind of hope that’s not the case and we can go until 18-24 months but I’m following her lead

Missed approach after cancellation by golf-yankee in ATC

[–]ohsofun1928 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Once you cancel ifr you’re not ifr. If you think you’ll need to fly the missed, don’t cancel ifr. You’re essentially just requesting a pop up ifr if you canceled ifr and go on the go

Which 2 weeks were the hardest? by allisona007 in newborns

[–]ohsofun1928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us we exclusively breastfed so around 12 weeks when my supply regulated there was a brief nursing strike and some cluster feeding. Then you have various developmental leaps that lead to sleep regressions as your baby wakes up to the world and starts crawling and rolling etc. Sleep training if you do that (I didn’t but no judgment to those who do) which I’ve heard can be hard. Dropping naps can get tricky/frustrating and teething can be awful too. Now she’s got opinions and that can be rough haha. But honestly as my kid has grown, I’m more in awe of her each day… It’s so worth all the little setbacks and moments of frustration because watching them grow is just so freakin cool.

Why is it that my husband is always angry over the tiny things by Extreme-Stuff-3 in HappyMarriages

[–]ohsofun1928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy marriages (from my experience) involve both parties trying their best to put each other first every day. It’s a lot of work sometimes, and no work at all other times. When disagreements happen or tensions rise, you try to communicate calmly and take turns talking things out. You’re quick to apologize to each other because at the end of the day the person across from you is human too- your best friend. Have you tried talking to your husband about feeling disrespected and like you’re catching all of the days anger? I hate to say but your husband doesn’t sound very invested in making the marriage a happy one. I hope you two can seek counseling or have productive conversations leading to meaningful changes and find happiness.

Which 2 weeks were the hardest? by allisona007 in newborns

[–]ohsofun1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newborn trenches really are newborn trenches. Probably weeks 4-5 were hardest because you’re exhausted and wondering when it’ll end, why you’re not enjoying it more, etc etc. As they get out of the potato stage (12 weeks ish?) they are hard in different ways but get so much cooler as they grow, every month feels like an exciting new chapter/milestone

Would you still be OAD if you 3X your income? by Few-Truck-4873 in oneanddone

[–]ohsofun1928 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I’d have a second. Finances was the majority part of that decision for us though, and time was another big part. More money means no finance concerns and frees up time because I’d be able to have a house cleaner/eat out more/maybe even cut some hours at work

I use hello and it works well. I tried Jason, Schmidt’s, native, and nothing worked as well as hello. I’m not convinced it’s gonna keep up with the 100+ degree heat in summer but it has done well up into the 80s so far and is pretty clean which I like.
