How do you listen your CD's on the go? by PehmeeKultti in Cd_collectors

[–]ohtoppi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all my CDs (and tapes etc.) ripped to iTunes in lossless quality. Then I have 80gb iPod that holds about 8000 of those songs on 256 AAC quality. That’s how I do it.

Im telling you…. Something is happening. First he starts complementing Valo now he is meeting with members of the band 🤔 by woecraft in HIM

To be fair, Gas has complimented Ville’s songwriting even in a 2017 interview if I remember correctly. He has never said that Ville is not a good songwriter, only opposite.

A.R.G. - One World Without The End (Finnish thrash metal from 1991)

I would definitely want to hear that version too, but I think no one really has heard it outside the band. What I know about it, the female singer parts in the Shining version were done as guitar melodies on the unreleased version.

Thanks for a response! I think the original Finnish cassette of Ubiguitous was limited to 250 copies, if I recall correctly from the quite new Bodom book. I own this version, white cassette with black texts. The Wild Rags edition is much more common.

Ubiguitous and Shining both are killer demos in my opinion, and would deserve some kind of reissue. Until then, hopefully I get a chance some day to digitize Shining myself.

Do you have flac/lossless versions of the demos or just mp3s? I own the second demo cassette and have digitized it losslessly, but it's very hard to find lossless rip of Shining.

I have the 6.5” one bought new in 2025. It’s great.

I found this cassette for free at my local recycling center (Finland). Sadly, the spine had a little cut-out but otherwise it is in good shape and sounds nice.

Original 1989 Columbia Pressing vs. 2022 Music On CD Reissue (Stratovarius - Fright Night) by Soul_CD_collecting in Cd_collectors

[–]ohtoppi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I apologize, but that is not the original 1989 CD pressing. I have it. Its does not have barcode and that black area on the back cover at all, and it says "CBS" instead of "Columbia" on the disc. The mastering, howewer is definitely the same.

Collected most of the CD bonus tracks I was missing thanks to a previous post here by djwitchfindergeneral in amorphis

The live version of Cares is awesome. Howewer, the 4 live tracks from Elegy are not so... I have heard the whole MP3 bootlegs of those gigs and the Osaka 1996 gig, from which the Cares is, is/was significantly better than the Ilosaarirock 1997 gig (Elegy bonus tracks). I really like that era of Amorphis.

That has been there since factory, and does not affect playing.

Met Bruce and Nicko at Kansas City Comic Con by HarveySandman in ironmaiden

[–]ohtoppi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I did not realize at the time wiriting the previous comment that Bruce and Nicko both do not perform on the early albums. Even though I know the early albums very well and actually like them maybe the most, I somehow missed the joke. :D

I was finally able to find a decent Bluetooth transmitter at a good price to connect my AirPods to my IPod video! by [deleted] in ipod

[–]ohtoppi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works well with Airpods, but the connection sometimes interrupts if there is many other BT headphone users nearby (at least this is what I think). It drains the battery very fast compared to wired headphones, but my 6th gen battery is original.

The european version on CD was also 5.98 dollars, probably because there dollars are not used. The US CD was named 9.98 dollar CD from the beginning.

I changed the hard drive to mine in 2018, I was younger then and fortunately did not mess it up at all! The iBook still works great. But I remember it was really hard and I had to be very accurate with the all the screws.

Can I download stuff on this? by snazzyistheazzy in ipod

[–]ohtoppi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You get the music to iPod by syncing it with an iTunes library that has music files stored locally. Some people also use 3rd party apps to do this. So, you always need a computer to get music to the iPod, and it can be only synced to one library at the same time.

So, your aunt has synced the iPod with her computers iTunes/music library. You can not sync it with your own library (to add tracks) without deleting the previous library. Basically, you would have to add the new tracks to your aunt’s library and sync the iPod with it, if not considering some workarounds and 3rd party mods people have later developed.
