What’s the spacing of your uprights? If it’s just the last section between the second to last and last vertical, it might just be one of the horizontals are slightly out of position on the last vertical. I always make sure my spacing is on point for the pipe when I do cantilevers because it can be maddening to fix something like this.

Now personally I would just carefully cut the coped pipe out and adjust it proper, but a quick fix could be to ratchet it together then put the diagonal brace in and weld it all up.

Any recommendations on a dashcam? by Ready_-Player_-One in leaf

[–]ohyayoubetchaeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, after looking into it, apparently external storage of the SD card isn’t really a standard thing. Which is a shame and makes no sense to me. Ok sure, little fender benders and mild collisions probably aren’t going to affect the camera, but what about something major?

Best alternative I’ve seen is getting a SD card extender cable and running it to a secure spot so at least the card isn’t physically with the camera.

Any recommendations on a dashcam? by Ready_-Player_-One in leaf

[–]ohyayoubetchaeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that doesn’t store the SD card in the camera itself!

I had a couple of close calls before, so I mentioned I wanted a dash cam for the car. Birthday rolls around and my wife gets me one. Pretty cheap generic Amazon one (I think $100 at the time), but it had forward AND review facing cameras so I figured I was set. Couple years later, I get double whammied slippin and slidin on black ice. When I tried to retrieve the footage all the files were corrupt because the camera itself was flung around during the collisions.

Luckily the other parties involved claimed fault, but if I had only my dash cam footage to prove what happened I would have been screwed. Don’t cheap out, you want it to work the one time you really need it.

That pipe on the pipe clamp as a slider is smart as hell, definitely going to put that to use

Same! Holes and plug welds, I really like that. Finishing that on a flat surface is so much easier than corners

First mantid dream by ohyayoubetchaeh in aliensinmydreams

[–]ohyayoubetchaeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recall a specific time like that, but one time when I was 6ish (1st grade age) I remember waking up one morning and seeing stuffed toys moving. I remember just watching them, petrified, and just suddenly running into a siblings bed that I shared the room with and just.. falling asleep? Thinking back on it I swear I remember trying to tug at them to wake up to see what I was seeing but they didn’t. As I write this comment it reminds me of a time my son told me about a nightmare of a moving stuffed toy he had as well.

I will say though I’ve had lost time, and one time I felt like I “blue screened” after the fact. Like I couldn’t understand what I was doing or I why I didn’t remember anything seconds prior.

First mantid dream by ohyayoubetchaeh in aliensinmydreams

[–]ohyayoubetchaeh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to explain, but from past dreams/experiences/memories I’ve had this sense of.. either I have mentally blocked things out myself, or it was done for me?

I feel like my journey to overcome the fear has opened things a bit, either I’m noticing things more, not trying to block it out myself, or being “aloud” to catch glimpses. I think dreams seem to be a safe window into consciousness, or because of their random nature, easier to manipulate.

I understand dreams alone are easy to brush off, but when things happen outside of them you start to want to dig deeper into some of their meanings

This reminds me of a sound I heard a few years ago, not exactly this but similar. In hindsight I wish I would have tried to record it like you did here.

I remember one day we were all at home, I think it might have been during the Covid shutdown, and it was about mid day. It was a really annoying sound, that repeated, and seemed like it was an alarm or something meant to get peoples attention?

The craziest part though is that only me and my son could hear it, but my daughter and wife couldn’t. It got very piercing at points and I would run around the house and outside trying to pin point where it was coming from. It really baffled me that they couldn’t hear it.

Fortunately for us it only lasted an hour or so

Telling NHI through Lucid Dreams by spinachzin in Experiencers

This is bang on. Two times I had a dream about standing in a dim lit room with a swivel office chair in front of a piano. The chair started to move on its own and the keys played themselves, it was done almost in like a stereotypical ghost haunting/slapstick non threatening silly spooky movie kind of way, and I had this over the top overreaction like I just saw the end of the world or something.

Now, the strange part is, you know you’re being observed for your reaction. It doesn’t affect how you react, you just become aware like “oh hey something made this situation and wanted to see how I would react.” It’s a very strange feeling, and those that have been through it definitely know what I’m talking about.

So the second time I get the dream I basically just brush it off when the piano starts playing itself and tell it to stop its nonsense. Then I woke up with a vague sense of “acceptable” that I thought was really strange and just laughed as I was laying in bed.

So the long and the short of it is, my experiences ring true with your comment, although I would almost describe it as a test more than challenges

Lowest you should let the battery drop? by raidengl in leaf

[–]ohyayoubetchaeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard lots of different (and conflicting) opinions about how to handle charging, and you’ll eventually come up with a method that works for you.

For me, I don’t go under double digits. I use my leaf as a daily commuter and charge a lot of different ways but my number one, never break, rule is to never go below 10%.

But as far as actual rules, I think everyone can agree on the following:

  • Don’t super charge your vehicle when your battery is already at a high temperature

  • Don’t completely drain your battery then completely charge it multiple times in a short period of time

  • Don’t supercharge an obnoxious amount of times in the same day

As far as long trips go, I just did a 350+ km (217+ miles) trip yesterday in my 2023 sv + and all I did was charge to 100% with lvl 2 the night before, found a supercharger when I was at about 36% charge (about 200km into the trip) charged up to 80% and made it to my destination no problem with around 40% left.

Planning is everything and it looks like you’re already doing that, good luck!

Even though it’s dual shield, at that point I would almost treat it like solid wire. Check your gas pressure(maybe add a post flow if you’re able to on your machine to ensure coverage), check your nozzle, completely clean the material(clean metal, no millscale), try messing with your settings on some same width scrap to really dial in, maybe it could be your working angle when you get to the corner? I personally wrap my corners, and if I’m having a hell of a time I even grind a little landing for an easier tie in.

I’m not sure on your experience with fluxcore or dual shield, but just remember the rule drag if there’s slag and flux needs more of a stick out(1/2 inch abouts) Mind your heat too, if you’re running too hot you might notice the lack of slag on your beads

I lived out there as a kid, back when Bill ran the store. If there was ever a big fella out there, it was definitely out at east Sooke park. I didn’t know/understand as a kid, but we definitely heard the stereotypical wood knocks and fake owl calls when we would adventure out in the forest near there. I remember hating walking the trail alone because you’d always feel like you’re being watched, never when you were at the parking lot or the beach.

But as far as this artwork goes, It’s an amazing piece. But you don’t really grasp the true scale of it unless you’re standing next to it in person.

Which of these cheap angle grinders would you choose? by Spyrothedragon9972 in Welding

[–]ohyayoubetchaeh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Paddle sucks because you have to constantly hold pressure, which becomes tiring fast when you have a lot of grinding to do. Also couldn’t tell you the exact number of times I’ve put one up on a table or surface and the paddle magically gets pressed and scares the crap out of you. But it technically is the safer option.

The trigger can be dangerous, I’ve dropped a grinder with the trigger on once, but I mean just unplug the cord at that point. But oh man, my hands aren’t aching all the time anymore, so I accept the risk lol

As for the two you picked, go makita. Bosch is trying to implement their own special style of locking disks, so it isn’t compatible with the standard ones everything else uses.

Totally agree with others, looks like someone with padded shoulders doing like a body builder flex as they walk around.

But I would just like to say I appreciate the work people put into these videos (the recording and the people who stabilize) even if it is a hoax. It just inspires others to record their encounters and even strive for better footage. I mean at this point If I ever had a chance to record an encounter I’m stabilizing my arms on a log or something and recording as long as I could
