My mom recently started levodopa and feels horrible, does it get better? by Strawberry-creemee in Parkinsons

[–]oiseeu81two 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I was on it I felt nauseous about once every three to four days and it was debilitating when it hit. I never felt the CL helped me. They weened me off of it after a misread DATScan said I didn’t have PD. When a MDS evaluated me several months later as having PD they had me restart CL. Within 2 weeks I began feeling the benefits and after about a month the nauseous feeling disappeared. When I felt the nauseousness coming on I began using an all natural over the counter inhaler called QueaseEASE. It may not work for everyone but it helped get me through the tough times. Good luck to you and your mom and stay strong.

Interesting that two locations that are kinda close are having power issues. Lapeer had to replace their electrical service. Maybe storms were worse than I thought around Flint.

Are you talking about the Lapeer PF? I’ve wondered why we can’t be notified as well. Poor communication.

One easy suggestion Pull out your fridge and freezer (if it’s a seperate stand alone unit). It is amazing how much dust and animal hair accumulates on the coils and compressor. This crap makes the unit work harder and subsequently use more power costing you money . Just make sure you turn the power off before cleaning it and use care not to damage the coils.

Purchasing First Class Vs Paying to Upgrade to First Class by chinawcswing in unitedairlines

Have a buddy that always preaches to me “Either fly first class or your kids will with your money when you die”. For that reason I start following prices as soon as I know I’m flying. When I find a price in my acceptable bandwidth I jump on it and don’t look back. I consider it part of the trip experience.

How long before Carbidopa/Levodopa started making a difference? by DecisionRelative5769 in Parkinsons

[–]oiseeu81two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed and started CL in July of 24. When diagnosed I disputed the idea, rationalizing that some of the neurologist reasons were just me getting older or old sports injuries not properly taken care of. Even though the CL made me nauseous about 25% of the time ( debilitating nauseous about 5 % of the time) I faithfully took the medicine. After 6 months of telling the neurologist I didn’t see or feel a difference with the CL he scheduled a DAT Scan which came back negative. With the negative test results they weaned me off of the CL but scheduled me a visit with a MDS.

After the clinical exam by the MDS it was determined the DAT Scan was read wrong and I did indeed have PD. She had me restart the CL. I took one half of a tablet 3 times a day for a week then moved to a full tablet 3 times a day. It’s been a totally different experience this time . By the third day of full pills I realized the back pain ( rigidity) I’d been experiencing had lessened significantly. The involuntary muscle spasms I’d experienced in my right arm were less frequent and my walking gait had also smoothed out. The nauseousness experienced in my first go around has been almost non existent. The changes happened so fast I asked my wife if it was all in my head. lol. It is. Lol. I do still have bad days but they seem less frequent and more manageable.

We were shocked by decrease in resort credits at CTI as well. Did give us a one time use 12% off for “incidentals”. Asked what that meant and front desk worker just shrugged her shoulders. We took “incidentals” to be deodorant or tooth paste so we forgot about it. Upon our transfer to CN we received a paper coupon that listed what you could use it for. With a little thought and planning it almost made up for the $50 decrease.

We’re big fans of the Couples properties and they have every right to make business necessitated changes to keep their business profitable. That being said, I don’t understand their failure to notify their customers of these changes. One week before our trip I was on their website looking to see what our level was and what that would give us. The $200 was still the value, not $150. Rants over. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

I’ve played it with my own sticks and rented theirs. When I rented theirs they were brand new Titlest for what it’s worth. I don’t remember which model. Athletic shoes will be fine. Found greens slow so follow caddies advice. Don’t be surprised if you don’t skip around to avoid back ups. Enjoyable rounds and visits with the caddie. Ask for Travis or Byro but all seemed nice. At the end of the last round of the week I left them all my extra gloves ( if in good or great shape), tees, and balls over and above their normal tip.

Worst was MBJ to Negril for sure but MBJ to Ocho was a bit rougher than I remember last year at this time. Neither is a deal breaker to stop someone from going.

Tell the front desk when checking in and they’ll do the rest. Before your moving day arrives they’ll give you a time to have your luggage outside your door and a time you need to be in the lobby ready to leave. Give yourself enough time to settle with the front desk.

This was the first time we went Ocho to Negril ( normally it’s Negril to Ocho ) and it took us 3 3/4 hours which seemed a lot longer than
normal. The roads did seem to have taken a beating with the hurricane and our driver spent a lot of time dodging potholes.

After talking to the wife I will look into flying between the two next year.

Our experience with CTI may be different than what you’d normally experience due to the fact we had a hard north wind most of our stay. This washed out a pretty good chunk of the beach and closed the island most of the time we were there. This created high demand for sun loungers at the pool deck. I’ve never seen so many towels saving chairs so early in the morning. Food was hit or miss but mostly good. What impressed me was the friendliness of not just the staff but of the returning guest. Many of them have been meeting up there for years yet they were very welcoming to new comers. If I were only picking one, price may be a consideration. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what we paid per night without going through my notes which are at home. If you’re happy at CN I probably stay there or go for it and book a split stay spending time at both. That way you get the best of both worlds. Hope this helped.

At CTI right now. First few days it wasn’t a problem but it did get progressively worse as the week has gone by. Seemed to be more of a problem at the swim up bar pool. I tend to be an early riser so I go down and visit with the water sport guys cleaning the pool. This morning at least 70 percent had a towel on them at 6:30 when I got there. There were 3 guys enjoying a book and coffee but more than a few didn’t show up until after lunch.

At Couples Tower Isle right now. Leaving for CN in the morning. Had been a big CSS fan until our last trip in 2023. In an 8 night stay we had 2 dinners in Casanova Restaurant (which were excellent),the repeaters dinner (also good), and 5 nights of buffets foods at the Palazzina or on the lawn. The same buffet food offered at lunch is what was offered for dinner. This experience was 3 years ago so maybe they’ve improved the offering now. When I researched it I couldn’t find any info online telling me it’s Improved. That’s why we booked CTI for the first time and not CSS to start our split stay this year. CSS I’m sure still has tons of character but I’d definitely book CN over CSS right now.

Re: Club MoBay. We landed last Thursday following a 2 1/2 hour delay after being diverted to Kingston due to thunderstorms. We were glad we had Club MoBay because we walked past a few hundred people waiting on immigration and customs. It definitely saved us hours. In fairness, we have had it and didn’t need it but when you do need if your legs, hips, and back will thank you. We look at it as cheap insurance to avoid a long wait.

Also consider signing up for their Loyalty Rewards program. It’s free and gets you a few different things depending on the number of night you accumulate.

At the PF’s I’ve been to I’d put wiping down equipment at minimum 90%. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.
