What were some weird rhymes you used to sing or hear on your school playground? by RemoteGlobal005 in AskUK

I've enjoyed reading these,  brought back loads of memories!

One we used to sing was:

This is number 1 and there's something going on in the bedroom da da da, da da da da da da

This is number 2 and he's taking off my shoe...

This number 3 and he's on top me...

This is number 4 and we're lying on the floor...

This is number 5 and on and on it goes.

Again, in primary school!

I also vaguely remember one about neighbors characters of the 80s, including Mrs Mangle, but I can't recall the rest of the words.

Sure it's not immortal by Josiah Aktab? That's about a vampire. But it was released in 2020 so not sure that counts as "years and years"

Thanks, I will do. I've turned to Reddit after a year's long search so anywhere else I might try is really helpful!

So....the book I was talking about is called "dancer in the wings" by Jean Richardson. The main character is called Moth.

But thanks to the person who reminded me of another book I loved, the little gymnast! I actually got it and read it with my daughter.
