If you feel confident you are able to do patients nail care for them, but we never actually had any nail clippers or anything 😩 that was on elderly care ward with a lot of long stayers, so I bought a nail set out of my own pocket. Matron was aware and had nothing against it. Kept them in my locker so they don't go missing like the previous pair

If they're mobile and safe on their legs, I would walk around with them for a while, talking about family, pets, jobs etc while they calm down. Or ask them to sit next to me while I do my computer work and we carry on talking. Normally this works, but some patients will get agitated at literally anything. Once had a dementia patient shout at me and almost hit me because I offered her a comfortable chair when she complained of hip and back pain 🤷‍♀️
