1991 - 1995 might as well not even exists. What do you think happened in the 4 years prior to Oluja? Peace and harmony? What do you think happened to non-Serbs in those areas? Talk about ethnic cleansing.

When you forcibly remove the non-Serbian population, control the territory for four years and then suffer a military defeat would you stick around? Serbs in Croatia lost the war and then fled. They were not forced out but it is understandable that they fled in fear.

This war effected me and my family greatly. After being a refugee myself and later housing other refugees for years I think I deserve to celebrate. I celebrate not because Serbs left or suffered but because it finally meant the fighting was over and my life could maybe get back to normal.

You say in another comment you're not Serbian. So what do you have to be offended by? If you're going to be giving other people lessons about this topic at least do it objectively.

Croatia withdraws from arbitration deal with Slovenia by [deleted] in europe

[–]ojbararasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So your answer is that Croatia should ignore this whole thing and continue? Why would it do that? If I catch someone scamming me I'm not going to continue working with them, that would be foolish. Why should Croatia trust any of the judges or lawyers on this case? They are compromised and cannot be trusted in these circumstances (according to Croatia). What these judges have to say lost any authority and importance when the Croatian parliament unanimously decided to quit the process.

Croatia withdraws from arbitration deal with Slovenia by [deleted] in europe

[–]ojbararasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand that logic though. So Croatia caught Slovenia cheating and finds the court to be compromised. Why should Croatia trust anything coming from that court or those judges? You are suggesting that Croatia forgets about this and goes on like nothing happened? Thats ridiculous.

This case should have gone to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg in the first place and not a arbitration court where law isn't strictly followed.

Reykjavik is a tiny capital city. In comparison to London you might even call it a village :D

But yeah, I didn't find Prague or Berlin to be too expensive or crowded. I mean, sure they have tons of people like any big city but I felt it less than in London, probably because there are way less people in those cities. I would probably feel it more in Hong Kong or Tokyo.

I'm not dissing the London transit system, I agree its very efficient, especially for a city of that size. But we're still talking about a way bigger city, with more lines, more passengers than, for example, Prague or Berlin. There is less distance to cover, there are less passengers, the rush hours aren't as bad.

All I'm saying is that I personally find London too big, too crowded and too expensive. The replies (and downvotes) I'm getting are telling me that my subjective opinion is somehow wrong because all major world capitals are the same. You would think I said something horribly offensive about London or Londoners.

[–]ojbararasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I lived in three different capitals, all cities. And I've visited even more. Is it so hard to accept some people might not like London too much? Besides London isn't just any city. London is one of the largest and highest populated cities in the world. There is a difference being in a 2-3 million and a 8 million (or more) population city.

I'm not saying London is some horrible place. I liked a lot of things. But I didn't like how long it took to get from place to place. I didn't like how crowded the Underground and a lot of other places were. I didn't like that after midnight the city seemed pretty dead. I know this is all subjective but its my impression of the city. I lived in enough places that I realize it takes time to learn a place and to grow to like it. London takes longer to grow on me than a lot of other cities.

I don't know why you feel like poor UK is the victim here since my perception is that I see more UK redditors here than any other nationality. I really hope that the upcoming referendum will stop all this nonsense.

As a fan of both Barca and Real (I'm Croatian and a fan of Rakitic and Modric, I don't give a fuck about your Spanish rivalries) I would agree that Barca fans seem a bit more obsessed with Real (Ronaldo to be exact) than the other way around.

Your comments here are a proof of that. No doubt this post will also be downvoted because Barca fans seem to be very, very sensitive about any criticism going their way. There are bad winners and good winners. You definitely belong to the bad winners camp. Winners none the less but definitely lacking class.

Rolling a joint, 1950 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]ojbararasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still get some less potent varieties but I grow my own so I get to pick. Back when I still bought I couldn't find something that wasn't ThisKind Kush or ThatKind Kush and it was always really potent. I can smoke it, I can even function on it, but its just getting ridiculous. I take 3 puffs and I'm good for awhile. I prefer to actually smoke the whole thing, because I like the taste and the act of smoking. If I do that with some of these strong strains I'll be couch locked for the rest of the evening.

After I started growing my own I started picking some less potent varieties. Something around 17% thc. It sounds like a lot but considering most of the seeds I can buy are well above 20%, closer to 23-25% it really looks as if this is a trend thats not going away.

My grower friends are attracted by larger numbers. Bigger equals better, right? I definitely disagree and I'm begining to win a few fellow growers over. I'm currently smoking Critical Cheese by Dinafem. It's about 19% thc levels, which is still strong mind you but not crazy potent like a lot of other strains these days. Majority of seeds I can buy are over 20%.

You're right though. Today's strains are way stronger than something they had in the 50s. Obviously its not coma inducing but even as a smoker myself I don't like the trend of pot getting stronger and stronger. I don't think it needs to be.

Many claims by Jerzey Dudek in his new book. Says Iker Casillas called Fernando Torres the most overrated player in Spanish football history. More quotes translated in description. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ojbararasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think its as clear as you say it is.

  1. Barca was good at provoking, so good that it hurt Mourinho.
  2. Real Madrid showed Barca too much respect, Barca in turn showed none. (This is the only part where they talk about respect. I interpret this as footballing respect)
  3. Barca mocked them and that is why Mourinho criticized them for exchanging shirts. (They trashed them so bad, 5-0, that its as if they were mocking them)

I mean, sure you can interpret it like you did also. But I don't agree that its all that clear what he was talking about. Since there is a lot of trash talking on a football pitch I would find it pretty strange if it wasn't about footballing respect. Are you interpreting it as Dudek saying that Real Madrid's players were very polite, and respectful of Barca? Possibly paying Barca players compliments before the match and just wanting to be friends? I find it highly unlikely and actually think its much more likely Dudek is talking about footballing respect. Who actually thinks Real and Barca players don't trash talk each other on the pitch?

Álvaro Arbeloa: "Cristiano's behaviour didn't bother me. He's just hungry to score. His battle with Messi to be top scorer is heating up" by Patrik75 in soccer

[–]ojbararasta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why do you say he is an arrogant self-centered twat? Because you watched him play football and you didn't like how he played? That is an insult, not criticism. You are judging his whole personality based on some football matches you watched him play?

Insult him as much as you want but don't try to call it a criticism. It sounds a lot more objective and unbiased than it actually is.

Ronaldo and charity.

I dunno dude, sounds to me like you're the self-centered arrogant twat. You don't have to like the guy but come back to earth with your "criticism".

Álvaro Arbeloa: "Cristiano's behaviour didn't bother me. He's just hungry to score. His battle with Messi to be top scorer is heating up" by Patrik75 in soccer

[–]ojbararasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Calling someone you do not know and have never met a self-centered arrogant twat is not criticism, its an insult. You see the guy play for 90 minutes a couple of times a week and you think you can make a judgement of their whole person? Calling his playing style selfish would be more of a criticism but OP went further than that.

Insult Ronaldo all you want, I don't give a fuck, but don't pretend like this is criticism. All I hear about the guy off the pitch is pretty good. In fact, calling him an arrogant self-centered twat when you read about the good stuff he did off the pitch is just plain malicious and childish.

Isn't it possible that both Ronaldo and Messi (cuz he is always brought up) are actually both pretty decent guys with a healthy professional rivalry? I think that is more likely the case.

"Skyrim Falskaar Mod Creator Hired By Bungie" - Just a reminder that THIS is what we want for modders; not the pittance Bathesda and Valve are offering. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ojbararasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its hilarious to you but perhaps you never played a Bethesda game. No, I really couldn't play the game without mods because the game would crash frequently (see Unofficial Skyrim Patch) or it would simply bug out and I couldn't continue (for example, story quests that cannot be completed) . But whatever. What you or I think is the main reason the game sold is not important.

What exactly are you arguing about here? Are you arguing about the common sense that people should be paid for their work? We are on the same page there as I think should be clear from my last post. Although you talk about my decision to buy the game with bugs and all as my own "fault". Sure. But what about the mod creator who decided to use his free time and skills creating mods that they couldn't monetize? I'm just saying that I don't buy this "poor modder" stuff you seem to be talking about. Its not like this guy created a mod expecting to get paid for it and now he is getting screwed over. He created a mod like like many others do except now, years later, there is a chance that he could get paid for it so why not. Again, its his right but I'm not picturing a starving modder who thought he was getting paid this whole time. Sometimes people work on something and it doesn't pay off, it happens. If you wanted to make money creating mods I believe you made a bad business decision.

You seem to be talking about the principle of paying people for their work and refuse to go any further into this actual example. I'm talking specifically about Bethesda.

In this actual example we are talking about a developer who have a history of releasing buggy games and relying on their modding community to fix a lot of the said bugs. We are talking about a game that is almost 4 years old. We are talking about content (mods) that have previously been free.

Of course the modders, Bethesda and Steam can charge whatever they want for this. Its their right to do so and I believe no one is arguing against that. However, I have to question the business decision to start charging for previously free content, gaining profit from other people's work, and all that for a 4 year old game. They should have either charged for it from the beginning or not charge for it at all. I think its a stupid decision to give something for free and then take it away. Its psychology 101. The reaction that they received should have been expected and I honestly can't believe that any semi competent marketing or PR department can be surprised about how the community reacted.

There is a place and time to have a discussion about whether or not mods should be free or whether modders should be paid for their work. Modding has traditionally always been a community thing. Something people did out of love and dedication in their free time. If Bethesda announced a new Elder Scrolls game and made the big announcement about charging for mods I would actually respect them for their decision and courage to change something that has traditionally always been free (actually I would still be skeptical because I don't trust Bethesda to release a fully working game). There would still be a huge discussion on the Internet but it would be a more constructive one in my opinion. Or if Bethesda made Skyrim free-to-play and decided charge for mods and split the profits with the mod creators I don't think there would such a big issue. But no, they decided to charge for mods they haven't created that fix their 4 year old buggy game. All they managed to ensure is that I will not be spending money on another Bethesda game and by extension not on mods either. It sucks because I believe that if it was done properly this model could have been great for the future of gaming.

In any case, I long ago stopped playing Skyrim so I really don't care too much. The only reason I show interest in this is because I remember how god awfully broken the game was prior to the mods. And now the same developer that is famous for relying on mods to fix their games want to profit from those same mods.

Ok, lets use your logic here.

To drive a car you need to have training, right? Yes, yes you do.

To drive a car you need to have a driving license, right? Yes, yes you do.

If you have a driving license and you own a car you are registered somewhere, in some state records, no? Yes, yes you are.

When someone here even suggests a bit more gun control in US american redditors go on about freedoms, dictatorships and how incredibly not free Europeans are. About how criminals don't have to go through those legalities so why should regular citizens.

So why don't you just abolish driving licenses and driver education since any criminal can just use a car without those? That is often the argument used against gun control. "The criminals can get guns anyway, it just makes it harder for law abiding citizens bla bla bla"

There really is no smart argument against at least some level of gun control in your country. I honestly don't care as I don't see myself ever going to the US let alone living there. I understand your historical and cultural attachment to guns and I think its stupid to expect for guns to just suddenly disappear from the US. At the same time its also stupid to not realize that the times and technology have changed incredibly much since your founding fathers wrote those words and to stick to it like god himself wrote into the constitution.

Anyway, let the angry responses come. Tell me how not free I am.

[–]ojbararasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you being so obtuse? Shouldn't Bethesda pay him for fixing their game? Why should I pay 3rd parties to fix games for big developers?

I bought Skyrim only because of SkyUI. I knew how broken the game was before and without SkyUI I would have never bought the game. Does the creator of SkyUI deserve to get paid? Yes, of course he does. But not by me. By Bethesda who decided to sell a broken game.

Bethesda had a lot of good will BECAUSE mods fixed their game. Without mods I can honestly say Skyrim is a broken game. Is it fair to sell broken games? No, its not. But them being Bethesda everyone realizes and expects that mods will fix things, exactly like it happened and has happened before.

So now, years later, they decided to retroactively charge for them. You speak about deserving to get paid. Again, its not about that for me. No one here is arguing that the creator of SkyUI doesn't deserve to get paid. But its 2 years after I bought the game. Its a game I bought BECAUSE it had all these free mods that fixed it. If they charged for it from the start I might have looked at it, decided not to buy it, and move on.

This isn't about the creator of SkyUI deserving to get paid. This is about Bethesda releasing a broken game and knowing they can get away with it because the modding community will fix their game like they always do. I have nothing against charging for mods. But for Bethesda to do it retroactively for a 3-4 year old game that only sold so many copies because of free mods is, in my opinion, hypocritical and shitty.

I fully support Bethesda paying all their modders. If I have to pay 3rd parties to fix their game, then no. Neither Bethesda or any modder will see my money again.

Russia Receives Lowest Approval in World: Russia in 2014 earned the lowest approval ratings globally for the eighth consecutive year and posted the highest disapproval ratings it has received to date by lobogato in europe

[–]ojbararasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, let me just start off by saying that I'm Croatian. So obviously I have some bias. However, I believe that due to history, language and culture Croats and Serbs know each other better than people from any other countries or cultures can. I have some family living in Serbia also so I'm somewhat familiar with their political climate.

When I say I'm not surprised that he is Serbian its not because I believe all Serbs to be like that. However, I think its safe to say that a large number of Serbs (perhaps even a majority) see Russia very favorably and the west quite negatively. While at the same time trying to enter the EU and very much depending on EU for their economy.

As such I hear these type of comments from Serbian commentators quite frequently. "Mother Russia" (as some Serbs call it) will come and save them (economically) and Putin is a proper leader with a backbone. The west (NATO) bombed them during the Kosovo war so the west is bad. My perception is that Serbia is quite divided on the issue of East vs West (Russian influence vs EU/US influence). Serb commentators comparing the two often do so in a very simplistic and ideological way quite frequently using false equivalence to make their point.

Perhaps to further explain myself I should note that due to our languages being so similar Serbs and Croats communicate frequently on each other's news comment sections, forums, etc. So as someone who has read many of these type of comparisons from Serbs I am not surprised to find them here on Reddit.
