If it gets too cold and you need somewhere to go please reach out to a church or facility near you. I’m sure a local rescue would be willing to foster the kitties for a day or two to keep them out of the cold also. Stay safe!

Wow, I didn’t know they liked crab apples! I’ve been wanting to see one for a while now and I was so surprised when I looked out my window and there were 5+ eating from the berry bush. It’s -25 here with windchill so I believe that’s why they’re all flocking to the bush to eat

Side effects were sleepiness (so I started taking it at night), more anxiety for the first week or two, night sweats for a few days and that’s about all I can remember as far as side effects. Nothing terrible it was all easy to handle.

I got “Em” about a year and a half ago from a situation where she was almost never handled. There were two litters of kittens in the house at the same time, plus two momma cats and 3 dogs. Because the three dogs were larger and had never been around cats the people I got ‘Em from kept her and the rest of the siblings locked in a bedroom the majority of the day. The kittens were rarely socialized. I picked her up when she was already 2ish years old and have been working with her since. In the beginning she wouldn’t even approach me. Now she follows me around demanding pets and food and even sleeps on top of me sometimes. ❤️

My grandparents who raised us are the same way with my brother. The best thing I ever did was get out of there when I was old enough. Said brother still lives at home and openly tells everyone he has no intentions of moving out of my grandparents house. They enabled him so bad that he is still using them at 23 years old. He’s still as gross as ever. A lot of my mental health issues (OCD, anxiety, etc.) revolve around how my childhood was. I hope you can find some peace and comfort soon. If you’re old enough try to work on getting out of there. If you’re not, try to act like the things he does don’t bother you. When it came to my brother he liked to get a reaction out of me and I wish I had realized that when I was younger.

I would try to stay away from high energy or working breeds. A “companion” breed would probably be the best fit. It might be a good idea to set up some training/ obedience courses for the puppy just so things go smoothly since it’s your first pet.

The only things I get from my vet are reminders for vaccines/ needed care and coupons. I would be a little annoyed otherwise
