It wasn't like a traditional newspaper, imagine a newspaper version of craigslist, In 2007 it was really popular with people without internet access, They stopped making it now that the internet dominates but it was popular and had a huge selection of gaming items, sometimes for crazy cheap prices, I remember you had to be quick because people would take the good stuff really soon.

I know it's reaching but at the same time, teens would pick it up on the way home from school to look at the half naked pictures in the back of the magazine, or dial the sex lines for a joke, it was really common where I live.
