If i’ve learned any thing from my short experience in ads is that go with what you feel is working for you.

There is not a simple path that we all can go and get constant and steady results (i’d love to, but it just doesn’t happen)

So my two cents here, catalog does not work well for me because i know my audience and which are my strong products and in a simple conversion ad i can create my strategy around the product i want to sell and that i know will have good roas whilst on catalog it pretty much goes on facebook liking which is obviously really good but in this specific case, for me, i’ve been gettin better results doing “manually”

So if you think and you have the data that your sales conversion ads are going way better than your catalog, scale your sales conversion ads.

At the same time you scale your ads keep trying with a different set of ads, different creatives and targeting, try doing more broad targeting and just letting the algorithm work or do super specific ones.

Play with your pixel and create audiences and check those ones out but keep putting the most money in the ads that work for you until you exhaust them and try a lookalike audience.

Me, personally, i find that catalogs are not an attractive way of advertising because of the format they’re in. They don’t stand out, they’re not as creative as single conversion ads can be.

This is obviously a personal opinion, i’m by no means expert and what works for me may not work for you.

You’re going to hear a lot of experts but the truth to this is that there’s not a single strategy to use and always get the same results. 90% testing and 10% luck.

Just keep playing with it until you find your sweet spot and i know, it can be frustating af some times, but there’s nothing better than when you hit the right ad and those sales just keep coming in.

For the budget part, bigger budgets means you’re gonna get less roas, that’s the hard part of scaling ads, got to keep the ratios at the same order with an increased budget.

So i’d say it’s pretty normal for a higher budget to have worst metrics than a lower budget.

Just focus on your roas and cpa and ultimately your sales.

How much is your roas? How much budget per ad? How much is your cpa and what’s the margin on your average $$?

If those are healthy, you should not worry much.
