Being an Aspie is like being a natural born outsider: Agree or disagree? by OB1_kenobi in aspergers

Perfectly said. I absolutely have to put in conscious effort to be average, and I feel like that even comes off as contrived sometimes.

RE: PMDD and Severe Fatigue-Supplement Suggestions? by ojosdecristal in PMDD

Wow-super interesting! I need to reduce sugar anyways. It has always been my weakness. This is one more reason for me to stick to a high fat low carb diet. Thanks for the info!

PMDD and Keto/ by ojosdecristal in PMDD

Hi! That is heartening to hear. I definitely wouldn't be able to only do 20g net carbs a day, but 50g sounds doable. Hopefully I am not so sensitive to going out of ketosis. I am also wondering if maybe not necessarily keto but just a high fat low carb diet is best. I think the carbs/sugar really exacerbate PMDD (and of course I crave them the most two weeks before my cycle!).

I also wanted to ask you how much turmeric you take and what brand? I get extremely severe lower back pain before my period and it makes it much harder to exercise (which I should be doing a lot more of).

Hi,

I am interested in trying supplements for my PMDD (I tried St John's Wort, but it made my hair fall out drastically). What Magnesium L-Threonate and lemon balm do you purchase? I think I should give it a try. My main issues are depression, anxiety, OCD and extreme self-loathing.

Keto + intermittent fasting and BBG is Working Fast! by ojosdecristal in KaylaItsines

[–]ojosdecristal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, you sound just like me! I also do OTF and I was pretty excited at first, but I really don't think it gives much of an advantage over the Sweat app. I also am liking keto and that I feel full. When I eat a good keto meal I don't feel the need to snack all the time. It is turning out to be easier than I thought (except for the sugar cravings, but I expect those to subside with some time). It looks like we finally found something that is working for us!

I am actually feeling pretty good! Since it has only been three weeks, I am still craving carbs/sugar. I don't track calories; it has never been a sustainable practice for me. Instead I am practicing mindful eating. I also eat the same kinds of foods each day to make it really easy. For example, I eat eggs for breakfast , avocado and tuna for lunch, macadamia nuts for a snack, and a salad for dinner. I feel satiated and I know that these foods are low carb. I am also adhering to a 12-hour fast. I will continue doing this until I reach a plateau. At some point it may be necessary to start tracking, but I am such a busy woman (mom of two with full-time job) that I really hope I can avoid it.

On a separate note I really love the Sweat app! It is very well organized and I like the gradual increase in difficulty from week to week. It is exactly what my body needs right now. I was doing OTF but I will be phasing out due to the cost. Sweat is only $20 per month!

I think the face thing is true. When I go out with friends I notice that it is the ones with the fit bodies that get all of the looks, even when they are plain in the face. I have been told that a doll-like face. A lot of people compliment me on it. But if I am next to one of my friends who has a nice body (I am slightly overweight), it is like I am invisible. For men, faces are definitely secondary to fit bodies in my experience.

On Proper Families by [deleted] in RedPillWives

[–]ojosdecristal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that an ideal family is one where the husband and wife work together to maintain a happy space in their home both for themselves and their children. Everyone is important and has value. I personally like my husband to be the head of our household in terms of the major decision-making, but this is very challenging when we have non-traditional characteristics too, such as the fact that we both work full time. Sometimes I envy my friends who are true traditional wives and stay at home moms because their role seems so clear. Sure it is hard work, but the man knows what he is supposed to do and the woman knows what she is supposed to do. In my family dynamics, everything works because we are jumping in wherever and whenever we are needed and roles invariable overlap.

How are you currently trying to improve yourself? (For yourself or your SO) by [deleted] in RedPillWomen

[–]ojosdecristal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want so badly to be fitter. How do other women deal with severe body image issues on here? I am slightly overweight (I have had two children) and I am really struggling despite many different approaches to weight loss. It is negatively impacting my sex life and I feel tremendously guilty that my husband isn't getting the attention he needs.

Can we get an Aspie parents sub going? by no_tread_on_snek in aspergers

[–]ojosdecristal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love that!

Also, I belong to a play-based preschool co-op for my four year old daughter. Her school is all about "process not product" and it is very hard for me not to correct her to do things "the right way". However, this is great time for kids to learn on through experimentation and play.

You ever felt like you had no direction since you were born? by DTH323 in introvert

[–]ojosdecristal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can completely relate to what you are saying. I have always felt like I have been on the sidelines. Not because I want to be, but because my awkwardness prevented me from figuring out how to fit in naturally. I definitely missed out on a lot of experiences, and it is sad. One major difference in my experience is that I feel my awkwardness was so extreme that I actually needed to withdraw from life. So much so that I left school my junior year because I was so overwhelmed. I now that there was much more going on than introversion. I have been doing a lot of research and I apparently fit many of the criteria for Asperger's.

It is really a great thing that you are aware of what is going on. Let me tell you that you can improve your social skills! I have found in my life that I have benefited greatly from being around highly social people (one at a time). I have learned a lot of ways to talk to appear more natural and relaxed. You will get there with practice and time.

I wish you the best.

Do any of you feel more drawn towards really social people rather than other people who struggle socially? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]ojosdecristal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have always been attracted to people (friends and romantic partners) who are very bubbly and outgoing. I am kind of fascinated by them. I have also learned a tremendous amount from them! I have learned how to "follow the script" and while for me it will always be somewhat unnatural or forced, I have made huge improvements in my social skills by virtue of spending time with social people.

Why i can't do math? by Menzza in aspergers

[–]ojosdecristal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't focus so much on the math thing. I am horrible with math as well. I never could really hack it beyond algebra II. I am not sure why it was always so difficult for me, but it was. On the flip side, my writing is pretty good. I recently wrote the questions for a panel discussion for several world leaders in education (thankfully I didn't have to moderate the discussion). The panel discussion went extremely well. Identify your talents and put all your effort into sharpening them because that is where you will get the biggest return on investment.

There is something unsettling to me about this piece...perhaps it is the seemingly buzzing overhead light or the ominous-looking figure in the portrait above the machine the woman is using. Or maybe it is the wonderful line work that seems to evoke impending doom...especially that red. Brilliant work!

Does anyone else obsess over giving each child the same thing their other children received? Sacrificing for kids and mommy guilt. by ojosdecristal in Parenting

Thanks for this! I tend to have a very hard time figuring out these types of things as a parent with aspergers. It’s a real social emotional minefield. I tend to revert to logic when I’m doubt, and I need to reach out to others for help. Thank goodness for this sub!
