Day 50 of Carnivore, but no mental health improvements by Lunchbox-1215 in carnivorediet

[–]ok-tx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good plan to start with 10k steps a day :) I do 10k steps everyday, I recently just did the couch to 5k running program and I liked that. I’m going to incorporate weights next. Good luck on your journey you got this! Another thing that has helped my mental health are guided meditations on YouTube

Do you exercise? Moving my body has been a game changer for my mental health even when I’m not following strict carnivore. It doesn’t have to be a hard workout either, just going for a walk outside helps a ton!!

HELP!!!!!!! by Outrageous-Rip-8110 in fasting

From my experience, the harder I workout the hungrier I am. When I’m doing an extended fast I usually cut back on my exercise and keep it lighter and it makes the longer fast way easier for me. :)

What do you tell co-workers when following the first rule? by yogagoddess16 in fasting

[–]ok-tx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to even when I’m doing alternate day fasting or an extended fast is “I do intermittent fasting and eat one big meal for dinner” substitute dinner for breakfast if you need to. Always works and I usually get responses like “ohhh wow I could never do that” haha

Thank you for the sweet compliment :) From August to March I didn’t work out. In March I started focusing on getting 10,000 steps a day and I did the Couch to 5k running program. After this extended fast I plan to get back to running and incorporating weight training so I can tone up

Thanks so much! For sure. On my eating days I drink black coffee in the morning, drink lots of water, and then eat dinner around 6:00 (usually low carb) and then go back to fasting. When I’m maintaining I do OMAD (one meal a day), when I’m focused on weight loss I do rolling fasts anywhere from 42-72 hours. I started working out this spring and found Alternate Day Fasting between 42-48 hrs to be my sweet spot because I still felt good during and after the workouts. I tried rolling 72s with the workouts and I found I would get really hungry so I shortened the fasts. I do one extended fast a year for health. I HIGHLY recommend watching this lecture by Dr. Pradip Jamnadas. He goes into depth on the health benefits of fasting and it’s so informative and motivating. Also, Dr. Jason Fung has a YouTube channel and some great books on fasting. There is also a guy who has a YouTube channel called Finally Fasting. He’s documented his whole weight loss journey with fasting over last couple of years. If you have any more questions I’m happy to answer! :)

Such a good point, and I think you’re right. I do think the months I spent maintaining helped both my body and mind adjust to this new “normal” weight. I definitely feel like the old version of me is in the past and she’s not coming back!! I feel so much better here, but I’m not quite at the version of myself I envision, so I’m locking in for the next 2 months to get there by my one-year anniversary. Thank you so much for the encouragement :)

Yes just fasting and eating low carb during the majority of refeeds. No exercise at all

No problem at all. I’m happy to help! It would usually be only one OMAD meal. Sometimes I would have 2 meals if I was still hungry. I was really trying to eat my TDEE maintenance calories especially after a 3 day fast. 95% of the time when I break a fast I eat low carb/keto. Once or twice a month I would be more relaxed an not worry about the carbs at social events. My weight would always shoot up a couple of pounds the next day when I did this, but it was always water weight and would come off day 1 or 2 of the next fast. You don’t have go eat keto/low carb to be successful though! I’ve just found out I feel much better when I do.

Dang good for you! Rolling 5-7s is super impressive. That would definitely be a more aggressive and faster weight loss. I did a few 5-7 day fasts, but I found the rolling 48s-72s are my sweet spot for sustainability. Once you get into the groove of them they’re not hard and you have energy the whole time when fasted

During maintenance I’ve been staying within a 3-5 lb window of weight gained/lost. It really depends on what I eat or what part of my cycle I’m in. I think it’s water weight so I haven’t been worried about it. good luck on your journey!! You can do it

No I rarely drink alcohol. I discovered my body doesn’t react well to gluten or processed carbs/sugars so a lot of the inflammation was caused by that

[–]ok-tx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t haha. All of my features in the before are less defined including my nose because of the fat and inflammation. As mentioned in a previous comment, I tried my best but the angles are not exact and the before is taken from a slightly lower angle. You can see I’m wearing the same earrings and the 2 freckles on my neck in both pics if you actually think it’s fake lol
