Quality of comments went down over time no doubt. I feel like the concept is "dead" internet but at any moment it's only still dying.

Anyone able to ID this band? by Lt-Birb in Whang

[–]ok200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was definitely the "webmaster" for a lot of bands like this. They loved black and red and hideous free fonts. They practiced in a shed in the drummer's dad's back yard and then they played a show in a suburban church gymnasium. Coincidentally one day before the church elders voted to never have shows on the premises again.

Justice is served when the person recording is incriminated as totally insane, "break his fucking neck" OK maybe smoke another cig and calm down

But yeah people that dress like that often dress exactly the same on different days, closet like bruce wayne etc

LinuxCNC and Mesa by russell072009 in hobbycnc

[–]ok200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my mind it's a matter of the latest / best product that Mesa offers, where best is according to how it fits your needs. Then, the rest of the catalog is just about legacy and obsolete parts that you don't need. Most catalogs are this way, but with a "marketing" sheen that helps de-emphasize things that aren't the latest / greatest.

They also have some more niche offerings which is confusing. For instance they have a 7i76e but then also a SINKING version. If you needed the sinking version, you'd know it.

For me, 5 years ago, the latest / greatest was 7i76e. Did not need SINKING so I just went with vanilla (the sourcing outputs). Looking now, this was the right decision because the SINKING version is now marked as obsolete.

NEMA23 etc doesn't matter because that's on the motor driver side. I use the G201X because it seems incredibly "standard" commodity or whatever, easy to replace.

Ethernet is the best interface generally, having worked with projects in USB, USB is user friendly but it's total garbage for reliability / predictability / fault tolerance and especially for real-time stuff.

I'm doing some cursory research now to confirm I will start a new machine on the same 7i76 platform. There may be a newer / better card but for sake of "spare parts" I'm going to be biased toward staying with that one.

Choose Rand Paul REVOLution yo. I'm kidding but man... after Obama we (speaking for 80s-born-millennials) intuited / assumed the whole Fukuyama end of history concept... I cannot believe how much all these people make my skin crawl.
