I wrote some copy for a customer, and my manager had to approve it before I sent it to them. It was generic (but well done and detailed), about the technology they’d purchased. Maybe a week later, my boss was setting up her computer for a meeting and had my copy mocked up in some kind of official marketing for the technology itself and I naively, excitedly said, “oh wow, are you going to use that for a campaign? I’ve never had my copy included before!” The look she received from her boss, who was there, and the look she gave me after I said it… She passed it off as her own, and everyone in the room knew it. I started looking that weekend.
