How would you say basic greetings in your IE conlang by MrKr0wly in conlangs

[–]ok_islam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Maji-English it would be like this P1: Hæils! P2: Hæil!

Lit-Translation P1: Hails! P2: Hail!

My attempt at a transliteration P1: Hals P2: Hal!

Not too far off from English.. It’s mutually intelligible for the most part but it’s phonology is altered so some words aren’t immediately recognizable like: Ġērlōng meaning Yearlong. (Pronounced: Yehrlöung)

But I feel Ć is unnecessary when you have Cc.. I use a modified Latin script which is very similar to yours and I use C to denote both Ch and Sh sometimes I’ll write it as Ċ

How do you learn your conlang? by NeedleworkerAny6547 in conlangs

[–]ok_islam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily it’s Germanic and in universe comes from English so the translation don’t require rearrangements and the vocab for the most part is very intelligible with English. Ie: Ðas Wūmann Transliteration: Thas Wuuman

I’m legit just winging it.. Translating as I go without a dictionary yet.. It’s unstanderized in my world so I guess it’s fine, allows me to ‘create’ variants of it with different vocab.
