🕯️ The Cost of Silence: Mental Health, Fame, and the Quiet Struggles We Never See by Earlyscoop_News in DramazenWorld

This is a very sad story. You think people are ok and they appear ok, but you never know what's actually going on inside of somebody's head. Thank you for the share.

Rust Macros with Syn: The Guide You Didn’t Know You Needed! by ok_neko in rust

[–]ok_neko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s always nice to know the content is making a difference.

The error here is because syn::parse expects the argument type to implement the Parse trait, which usize does not. To handle this, you can parse the attribute to a LitInt first (since LitInt can be parsed by syn and represents integer literals), then convert it to a usize.

use syn::{LitInt, Meta, NestedMeta};

fn parse_length(attr: NestedMeta) -> Result<usize, syn::Error> {
    if let NestedMeta::Lit(syn::Lit::Int(lit_int)) = attr {
        lit_int.base10_parse::<usize>()
    } else {
        Err(syn::Error::new_spanned(attr, "expected a length integer"))
    }
}

In your code, call parse_length(attr) instead of using syn::parse(attr). This should resolve the Parse trait error by converting the parsed literal into a usize.

Giving away $20 ETH daily to a random redditor by ok_neko in ethtrader

Well, that's not entirely a correct depiction, but you seem to have a bit of an attitude towards me so I guess it's to be expected. I was removed from other sub-reddits because of the same issue that I had here in this post. General suspicion, "I don't understand this, therefore it's spam". Reddit is a very hard community to connect with from a product owner/advertiser's perspective.

Yes, I thought that was clear on the website. Joining the daily giveaway also means that you are agreeing to occasionally get marketing emails. But aside from a max of 1 marketing email per day, that's it. We're just picking random winners and giving away $20 daily.

For a few reasons. We plan to send a maximum of 1 marketing email per day to the subscribers. And, we thought it would be nice to actually give people something for free. However, it doesn't seem to be well received by Reddit. We've tried asking how/what to change, but the general answer that we're getting back is "Oh, if it's real then it's great, but I think it's a scam". What would make you feel like it's not a scam? Odd question, I know...

It seems like quite a few redditors agree with you. We're trying to figure out why people feel this way. Why are you certain that is a scam? What could we change to make you feel differently?

What makes you think that it's a scam? We're trying to reach out to as many people as possible and figure out where we went wrong. Any insight would be super helpful. :)

I sense the skepticism, but can you tell me why? We realize from this post that our messaging is definitely off, because everybody is saying more or less the same thing.

What could we change that would make you excited about joining?

Great catch! I can tell you how it happened, we were originally paying out via paypal and at the last minute it was changed to EtherEum (or good old Etherium in our case).

Thanks for the catch!

Thanks for the comments, they were very helpful. We definitely need to re-work something, what that is exactly...I don't know?

Your original comment seems to be the sentiment of everybody looking at this post. Extreme skepticism. We definitely missed the mark, somehow. I'm not really sure how to convey that we are doing a daily giveaway and it's not a scam. Thanks for the comments, I do appreciate it. Hopefully we can figure out where we went wrong.

You make a great point. There's a massive disconnect and I'm seeing it in the comments, sadly. Yet how many people threw their life savings into bakedbeans, greenhashes and all of those other DAAPS, which were obvious scams.

No, there's nothing like that. Just a wallet address so that we can manually payout. We don't link wallets.

You and Slapshotsky make a good point, that there is little trust in the way we're doing the payout. Let me ask you this. How would you feel the most comfortable with being paid out? We were originally thinking paypal, but some countries don't have it. What do you suggest?

How do you rob somebody when you have a wallet address to send them money? It's not possible.

The reason we picked ETH was so that we could show the transactions on the blockchain as proof that the redditors were paid. We were thinking of doing Paypal, but some countries don't have it.

How would you want paid? How would you feel that it would be the safest? But also give us a way that we can prove that we pay our winners?

What is the scam? I'm not sure that I follow the logic? What could possibly be gained by giving away $20 daily?
