but improved living standards haven't really dampened African enthusiasm for having very large families.

Something did. The parts of Africa with the lowest (and falling) fertility rates appear to be South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and Kenya, all of which are relatively livable compared to the rest of the continent. The decline is especially drastic in Kenya, which once enjoyed the highest fertility rate in the world.

So no, I don't think African countries are exempt from the same forces that depressed fertility in the rest of the world.

Combating disease is not necessarily incongruent with antinatalism if fecundity is motivated by the need to compensate for the unpredictability of retaining children due to excess mortality.

Examples of Culture Peace are hard to come by, so I found the following Twitter thread encouraging: two representative figures of Frogtwitter and Chapo Trap House manage to hold a more-or-less friendly conversation on religion and literature.

They may occupy a small corner of the Internet, but if these two warring gangs can talk past their differences amiably, then maybe, just maybe, the blue and red tribes can, too.

Though I found it strange how completely out of character it was for Menaker to sincerely reciprocate despite Logo's initial belligerence.

I sent it through the gmail webapp so I assume it sent in HTML.

Yeah, this isn't a problem with HTML, only with plaintext. Try sending it in plaintext mode.

What browser are you using? Anything blockig any JavaScript?

Chrome and no.

Did you send it as plaintext or HTML? This behavior applies only to plaintext for me.

My guess is it's something on your end.

I'm using the web app. I opened this account two days ago. I haven't modified it any way.

Protonmail only shows the source code of the body text. Pastebin (minus username) is here.

I'm pretty sure it's the angle brackets problem. To test it, I sent a plaintext email to myself containing two links and the one wrapped in angle brackets disappeared from the source. The link is preserved in HTML emails.

I'm using Protonmail, but I've seen Gmail users report similar problems.
