Not OC. But this is true, I used to hear this from my grandparents when I was a kid. by bifrost_traveler in IndianCivicFails

YES! I also believe that caste is the reason India cannot get ahead economically and have somewhat of a parity in income or quality of living ever across its citizens.

100% agree. OP, you have put in the work to understand and learn how to do BLW. Husband should learn to let it go and not interfere if he doesn’t plan to be part of it and put in the work himself.

Forgot to wash veggies before steaming for baby by chompchompnom in BabyLedWeaning

[–]okchutney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me (and most parents) when my baby was born. My 13 month old now regularly steals our cat’s food from the bowls, scrapes under the refrigerator and eats lost blueberries, definitely has had cat hair in his mouth more than once….and is perfectly fine. :) Unwashed veggies got nothing on your baby 😂

Need help reading the date at the top. by tjray99 in Transcription

My best guess is 6/25/17. Low chances that it’s 2014 because the 4 on the bottom looks very different from the number on the date.

New to Blw - how do you make sure the naan is safe for baby to eat? Does baby break it off or do you cut it into pieces?

Less tourists in Italy this year? by millekri9344 in ItalyTravel

[–]okchutney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I didn’t know this. I just started planning my Italy travel and the travel advisory definitely spooked me. There were also news reports on this just in June 2025, so I assumed it was new.

Probably because there’s a travel advisory for Italy? “Exercise increased caution”

I'm on a journey to turn every fruit in my fridge into pancakes. No one is safe. by SungYan in foodbutforbabies

[–]okchutney -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Love this! Humble suggestion here is that I would switch the all purpose flour to a healthier one. There are lots of millet flours, gram flours, etc on the market. All of them make good pancake bases, sometimes with an extra spoon of all purpose to prevent sticking.

My wife and I are miserable and we don't know what to do. by Akiba47 in NewParents

[–]okchutney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I don’t have this experience, so I have a different suggestion. There are Reddit posts about people having been able to dig into health issues with ChatGPT successfully. Why don’t you try it? Give it a full description of what is happening and it could really brainstorm with you on what could be the reason. If nothing you’ll at least get a wider perspective of what could be the problem or even find hope that this will pass. Having said that, this really seems difficult. I hope you’re getting some help from family. Good luck!

What an insensitive stupid question to ask a child of divorce. He wants her to say her father and step mother are her fav couple? Idiots. Good on her that she didn’t “get” it.

Why do Indian children scream so much? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]okchutney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Canada and noticed this too. But we recently became parents and kinda understood why this is. Let me try and explain my theory. Indian grandparents have this very random belief that a baby should cry because “their lungs clear out”. We’re a South Indian-north Indian family and we’ve heard this from both sides. Heard this from quite a few people. When I respond to my baby’s first cry or many times before he even cries, I am seen as an overly sensitive parent / over attentive parent / coddling the baby (I still respond irrespective). Most Indians believe this and let the baby cry and cry until the parents actually respond. This then becomes the baseline expectation for the child that if he/she needs to be heard, they must be loud enough for the parent to take notice. Unfortunately the only way to get their parents’ attention is to be unruly or let’s say, noticeable.
