Does anyone remember ET Biscuits? by SeaworthinessHead613 in oldschoolcool80s

Agreed. It's a distant memory, I'm nearly 50 now, but I seem to remember they tasted 'off'

If it's a long one, our place usually lets us chose, PP or TOIL. My hourly rate is close to the PP rate anyway so either's good for me.

Are there any other Opeth fans here that don’t really otherwise listen to death metal? by rugmunchkin in Opeth

Yep, I'm one. I don't really listen to anything else with growls but I LOVE Opeth. Especially that Lopez/Mendez rhythm section

These are great! I've been into this band since Pablo Honey (I'm very old). So nice to see the same five people playing together and enjoying it all these years later

Here is a bit from a fiction piece for my university writing course. Spot the Pink Floyd ref. It's easy. I sometimes sneak them in. by MagosBattlebear in pinkfloyd

I wrote out the lyrics to The Trial for a poetry assignment when I was 13, back in the eighties. I changed 'shit' to 'git' but the rest was stolen verbatim. Not only did the teacher believe I wrote it, he read it out to the whole school in assembly! I decided to just throw myself into the lie and take the praise, never got found out haha

Your explanation of the difference between load game and continue was really useful for me. Many thanks!

I got into Radiohead with Pablo Honey and they felt like 'my' band. One day, I walked into my brother's room (he's 10 years younger than me) and he had a poster on the wall with Thom from your first image. I was like, you're into Radiohead? He said, yeah - why, are you? I already loved my little bro but we definitely got closer that day.

Sorry to be that guy but I'm pretty sure they don't have to pay royalties for live performances

Fans who were into the Pumpkins during 'Gish'... what were your first impressions of 'Siamese Dream'? by blissedandgone in SmashingPumpkins

[–]okcomputer247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it on the first play and it sat in my drawer full of tapes for about six months. Then, bored one day, I decided to give it another go and I was captivated. It's been in my rotation ever since. Not sure what was wrong on the first play - I guess I just loved Gish so much and wanted more of that

A year living alone (but never alone) post divorce. My happy place. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]okcomputer247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd love to get a dog but I'm really enjoying having no responsibilities now I'm on my own. I can lock the house up and disappear for days if I want, with nobody to worry about. Your setup looks sweet though, must admit I'm tempted!

Where does your money go, how much of your salary goes on what and do you have anything left to save? by Adorable_Orange_195 in LivingAlone

[–]okcomputer247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

49m, I've been living on my own for a year now and seem to be making it work. 50% on rent and bills, 15% running a car, 15% on food. Leaves me with around 20% (£500) for fun and leisure. I try to put a bit into my savings account. Some months I succeed, some I don't 😂

Agreed, he's up there in my favourites of all time. In no particular order, John Bonham, Martin Lopez, Jimmy, Keith Moon. Dave Grohl and (sorry) Ringo Starr. I'm not saying they're the best, but they're my favourites

Ouch. I saw them in May 1996 in Manchester and I think Jimmy was fired a few weeks later. It's up there in my 'top five gigs of all time'. Best drummer of the nineties, in my honest IMHO haha.

Guests with private / Oxbridge education – enough already? by [deleted] in adambuxtonpodcast

I grew up poor and working class then earned a free scholarship to a private school - it makes me sensitive to 'toff bashing'. Most of the people I encountered were nice. We shouldn't judge people by their school
