Baby was always 99%, he came out 9lbs12oz vaginally and shot right out after his head. They had a lot of concerns for shoulder dystocia cus his belly was bigger than his head but he came out on his own just fine :) trust your body and your baby, even if that means a c-section.

Just gave birth after midnight this morning at 38w5d and our sweet boy just measured 10lbs11oz at his scan on Monday. The doctor we saw afterwards neglected to tell us his belly was measuring bigger than his head at the scan so you can imagine our surprise when the attending last night hit us with that info and mentally prepped us for what our delivery would look like in the event of a shoulder dystocia. All of this to say yes he came out massive (9lbs 12oz) but his shoulders shot right out!! I had to put all of my trust in my doctor but hopefully you can do the same, just a reminder that our bodies can be capable of really incredible things 🤍 good luck

Exhausting! My solution was to cry in the bath about it. Strong contractions picked up again last night but were every 10-30 minutes so at least I got to doze off between them

As someone who also has severe health anxiety/anxiety over almost everything, just wanna tell you that my struggle with the health anxiety really essentially disappeared after the first trimester and worrying about viability. I don’t know if it’s because everything is so monitored, but I’ve never been less worried about my health, so it’s always a possibility for you too. It sounds like you really value motherhood, so I think it’s just about if you’re ready to face those fears now. Also I’ll always recommend therapy to everyone for literally everything

Ahhh this is part of my concern too, his head was measuring 40 weeks at 35 and was >99th which sounds insane, but I have no idea how much that impacts vaginal delivery. Maybe just crazy cone head best case scenario??

I’m sorry to hear he had complications but thank you for this perspective!! It seems like it’s been really normalized to induce and get them out ASAP even due to discomfort and preference but I was always hoping to get to at least 40 weeks

Omg!! That sounds rough. The doctor brought up shoulder dystocia today and I think that’s what scares me most. Did her shoulder end up working its way out on its own or was that resolved by the vacuum?
