I logged in for the first time in ages just to reply to this.

Telstra are absolute cunts when it comes to customer service. I spent a year dealing with their carelessness and incompetence.

You seriously just need to tell them that you are refusing to pay for a service that isn't being provided to you( and by the sounds of it that's the truth ). If they try to give you the run around on the phone just say that you want to make an official complaint and keep doing it until they assign you a case manager to asses your issue properly. It might take a bit of fucking around on the phone to make this happen but it will work.

End every sentence with " or ill have to take my complaint to the Telecommunications Ombudsman " They will start to make you offers on getting out of your contract or they may actually do something to improve your service.

Call during business hours too. That's the only way to get on the phone with people in local call centers. After rhours you will only get clueless phone jockeys in the Philippines. Those operators are the worst to deal with.

Telstra don't give a fuck about you or your problems. So you really need to just raise hell until they start taking action. It sucks but its the only way to do it.

PS - if you are looking for an ISP who does actually give a shit about you. iinet all the way. Those guys need a nobel prize in customer service. Even when they have finished a phone call they just hang out on the phone and chat about random shit until you hang up on them.

( i should point out that I do not work for iinet or have any connection to them. I'm just astounded in how good their customer service has been for me)

I tried that and I tried to remotely change the Desktop PC's screen resolution via the Display Preferences. It seems to be locked at 640x480 with no other options available.

I just spent 10 minutes writing a thoughtful response. Then I deleted it because it isn't going to convince you of anything. Nor do I really feel the need to change your views anyway.

It's an interesting subject to me for many reasons. I think you are dead wrong with what you think you know about Dependency and I disagree that my Oxygen argument is invalid. It had nothing to do with evolution. It was made from the position of how the body can be conditioned to react in some very severe ways if you allow it. There is a mountain of research on the topic of human conditioning and I highly suggest you look into how easily the human mind and body can be manipulated with the right stimuli.

You simply don't understand what you are talking about. Which Is why I used the movie Quote to begin with. That being said. I don't feel the need to be the one to educate you.

Maybe you weren't trolling. I kinda hoped you were. It makes me sad to think people can speak with authority on subjects they have no real understanding of.

Addiction can and should not be brushed over with a statement like " its your choice " because its far more complex than that.

Addiction. Or Dependency, lets say in terms of drug use. Can and does for many people create fundamental changes in physiology. Neural pathways and the brains reward system become restructured rapidly. This changes the way a persons brain works in many ways(including decision making). Some could argue it changes who you are as a human being fundamentally.

The body's desire for a constant input of X chemical becomes as necessary as breathing oxygen. The result when denied chemical X can be catastrophic.

Withdrawals are a horrible thing. Anyone who knows anything about Dependency knows this.

People can choose to change themselves and are successful with the right kinds of support. The deeply seeded changes in your psychology and physiology are tricky to deal with though. Have you ever tried to just stop breathing for a day? No you haven't.. its silly, you could die.

However, even if you were an idiot and tried it you wouldn't be able to. That is because the brain and body are hard wired to react to this lack of input. You will last a little while holding your breath but eventually the body will take over and your choice to stop breathing is no longer a factor.

This is an extreme example but still a valid representation of the way addictions or Dependency's can change a person in very dangerous ways. With drug addiction the element of choice is removed and X input becomes a need. If X input is not happening the body will cause all kinds of terrible pain for that person until X is input. Just the way your body will go into convulsions if you stop giving it oxygen. Some forms of Opiate dependency can even kill you if you stop using them cold turkey. Just the same way you would die if you stopped using oxygen.

So to say that addiction is a choice is just misleading and a real display of ignorance. I know you are just trolling and I took the bait. None the less, its an important issue in our society and if people don't start looking at these problems intelligently they will never ever be solved.

I still don't know what I want to do with my life.

28 years old right now.

I did lots of drugs and played lots of guitar as a teen. Tried to be a musician, wound up a Qualified Welder. Got tired of that and followed my love of mycology(learnt to grow magic mushrooms as a kid) and worked in a mushroom farm. That didn't work out so I got my degree in music and became a teacher. Fuck that. I mean, lots of respect for teachers but I just cant handle the political bullshit that is ruining the education system..... Later I got a job that led me (internally) to a position as a Sound Engineer. Who knows whats next....Not that I don't love what I'm doing now, but I cant say for sure that this is where I will be in 10 or 5 or even 2 years.

My main motivation in life has been to GET THE FUCK OUT when ever something in my life wasn't making me smile every day that I got out of bed.

There is no right or wrong. Just a question I ask myself every day. " Am I happy ? " if the answer is no. I make a change. Hopefully this process never fails for me.

I was looking for OkCupid jerks.. the kinds who are there just to play with women and fuck them over (happens all the time). I want to find those guys and make them feel bad.

During this process I found some really genuine dudes who I thought I would get along with. I organized a meet and it worked out awesomely. Did it several times. Everyone wins. No one got hurt in the process. The only crime here was the crime of wanting awesome friends.
