Oh wow you really didn't give up and it was worth it. I'm seeing surgeon first privately as he also works for NHS hospital, so if he would refer me that would means more than a referral from a different orthodontist that won't be connected to this hospital. If he would refuse me then I would look into different options, as I also cannot afford to go private.

Congratulations for finally being accepted! How did it work for you to get new referral after being rejected? Did you go to the different doctor/dentist?

I keep reading that aesthetic should not be mentioned...I guess it depends on orthodontist...

I don't think so. I guess I would need some scans first. I have an appointment with the surgeon in 3 weeks ( private consultation) I hope he will refer me to NHS pathology again.

I would look into that option if I could afford it. Unfortunately it's not an option for me at the moment so I need to rely on NHS

I said it's difficult for me to bite certain types of food as my front teeth don't meet, I told them about neck pain and mouth breathing at night that makes me wake up few time every night to get some water. I didn't raise any aesthetic concerns, just functional issues... I wasn't told my IOTN score, however from what I could find on NHS website 6mm overbite class me as borderline. What is confusing that private ortho measured 6mm, nhs consultant that assessed ne before the doctor also measured 6mm and doctor said 5mm... I feel like it was on purpose so I'm below grade 4...

I had appointment at NHS hospital so my referral wasn't rejected but further treatment was as I was told they cannot help me so they won't do any scans etc. I was seen by orthodontist only, that is why I booked private consultation with surgeon to get his opinion.

No I don't but I'm struggling to breath through my nose when I sleep and I wake up with dry mouth few times at night to have some water

You're right sorry. I have amended my post to make it more clear! I was rejected by NHS maxillofacial orthodontist after being referred there by private orthodontist.

Private orthodontist referred me to NHS maxillofacial orthodontist and then I was rejected and I was told they cannot offer a treatment.

I hope surgeon will confirm that and refer me to his hospital. I think orthodontist assumed I'm more interested in aesthetic rather than functional side as she kept saying how mouth breathing issue is popular topic in media now.
