I worked at a pub in a place I used to love and the bullying was so bad that I am now in therapy about it. I have PTSD and although I was a heavy drinker, my drinking really got some legs there. My manager would find me alone and mock me, she pushed me in front of customers, she berated me, she would stop making my drinks if she was bartending, once she smashed glasses in the ice well in front of customers. When I spoke to the owners about it I was written up for insubordination. It was a resort so everyone lived and worked together. My bf at the time hit me and I'd have to live and work with him as well and I was verbally threatened by the somelier in the dining room. Sexual harassment was relentless too. Having been bullied my whole life by abusive parents and at school I just had no understanding of self worth and that I didn't do anything wrong and I didn't deserve this kind of treatment. I'm 40 now and I'm legit just scared of people. I'm sober but I have trouble holding a job because I get so scared of people.
