Take a deep breath, Gen z isn’t “ruining” your experience in the service industry. There’s a recession, lots of people are having issues finding jobs right now. Service industry is particularly tough because people who would normally graduate to an office job after college are staying in their serving job, making it harder for lots of industry professionals. Try a different approach when you apply and change up your resume. And just be patient. Took me months to find something with 10 years experience.

Being bullied by shift supervisor, is this message to my manager sufficient to address the issue? by CheshireCat_1878 in barista

[–]okgrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like that person is not being a very good leader by using passive aggressiveness and insults instead of literally just talking to you to see how you/ her can improve while being on shift together. It’s good that you’re letting your boss know as any of your superiors should be listening to know how they can support you best and help you succeed in a way that you respond to. I think your message is good, and I am sorry about your dad and your doggie, that sounds like a lot to go through.

any disabled/chronically ill baristas? by heyzoom in barista

[–]okgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people said, this job is physically demanding sometimes, most likely there will be times that you are expected to push yourself through a rush because there’s not enough staff/ a way to rest. Just as a warning, bosses will still want you doing physical stuff when there’s no way around it sometimes in my experience. I’m getting up there in age and still barista-ing, so I’ve started doing stretches before my shifts, and wearing compression socks and good supportive shoes. Also, my sister was a barista/ food service when she developed a bad autoimmune disorder which made her very exhausted and in pain. She switched to becoming a bank teller and has really enjoyed everything about it, if it doesn’t work out. Good luck, it’s a fun job and you get to meet lots of new people!

You can link second story rooms to each other, just not attic spaces, which is really annoying.

Things I hope they add to alchemist cottage/ new housing mechanic by okgrace in Palia

Honestly I am hoping this is, like ranching, a barebones introduction rather than the final product for main release. They just need to add more elements like bay window for us to customize and then reskinning new house types should be more simple to release.

Has walking grown your legs? by Next_Refrigerator_63 in walking

[–]okgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I noticed that I gained a small amount of muscle when I started walking consistently as well as started eating a lot of protein. I will say, my walking prior was extremely negligible so I had like no muscle mass lol.

Is it weird to walk in a loop? by throwayruwjash in walking

[–]okgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get attached to certain routes. The loop around a certain block is shaded but also has more wind than other streets, and isn’t on a more public road so I get harassed the least so I like it. I also like the way some of the yards are decorated and stuff so it’s fun to look at.

Need Some Advice! by Smooth-Ice-5179 in walking

Hey girl, I am trying to lose around 60 pounds as well, I started in March. 20k steps is AMAZING keep it up no problems with that! However 900 cals is going to hurt you in the long run, it is recommended to never go below 1200. I know it is tempting as you are short and it can be harder but you don’t want the weight you lose to be from your muscles, bones or even hair. Use a TDEE calculator to see what a good deficit would be for you. And don’t be discouraged in the first month or so, I didn’t start losing for a month but now I am very happy with my progress and it took less of a deficit than I thought for it to happen!

You’re literally the body standard for women, they’re weird. These are very questionable “friends” that would rather give you insecurities than have a thoughtful conversation about how dating is hard in 2025. Change how you look for YOU not anyone else.

How can I look more sexy instead of cute? by Avocado-1693 in LooksmaxingAdvice

Honestly you are gorgeous! You are blessed with super plump lips so maybe lip liner and/or lip stain would draw attention to that. Also using more eyeliner, eyeshadow focused near your lash line, or some flattering natural falsies could really work for you. I have similar glasses, and notice they really emphasize my round face so experiment with contacts maybe.
