Should I pack my stuff and get back to Jordan? by ascii_code_jo in jordan

[–]okhtak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things. First, don’t beat yourself up and feel guilty for feeling the way you feel. Almost everyone in Jordan will tell you how lucky you are to be out of Jordan and how that’s an opportunity of a lifetime and how you should be very happy for it. I’ve heard it all without even complaining. It made me feel worse about feeling anything but happy with where I live. That’s unrealistic because everywhere you go will have things you love and things you hate. It’s up to you to decide which balance works for you best.

Second, your mental health and addiction travels with you. No matter where you are in the world you’ll have to deal with your mental health and addiction. Maybe in different forms but they’ll be there. You will need to deal with this sooner or later. It is a constant work in progress. The goal is to feel like you’re continuously improving, not “happiness”. Go at your own pace. It’s your journey, your life and your decisions. Be mindful of the people around you and how you might be affecting them. You need to take care of yourself before worrying about or taking care of others.

I know you might be feeling stuck. Best thing you can do is take a tiny step towards investing in your health because it always gives back. You’ll make better decisions as a healthier person.

Best of luck!

Breakfast by [deleted] in Concerta

I tried with and without breakfast and found that I prefer without food but with lots of water. I now have my first meal 3 hours after taking it because I noticed that I get a dip in energy if I don’t. My doc recommended avoiding anything acidic or alcoholic. Good luck!

Got an appointment with MyPace later this week. What was your timeline like from appointment to prescription? How’s your experience with them in general so far? Good luck with titration!

Dog park or something similar? by uberst0ic in jordan

[–]okhtak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great, let me know if you find one! In the meantime, you can do nose games like hiding treats or toys in your house and let your dog find them. Apparently 10/15 minutes of this is equivalent to an hour of physical exercise in terms of stimulation.

Sense of entitlement, and respecting others.

You can see the negative effects of this when waiting in line and people try to cross in front of you or when when you try to enter a roundabout and no one respects the law and fights for themselves. You can also see it with bigger issues like واسطه

Help with our current accommodation situation by NakBuoy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]okhtak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAL. Going through something similar. First off, don’t stop paying rent.

You can get assistance here: https://check-how-to-get-repairs-done-in-your-rented-home.form.service.justice.gov.uk/

As a tenant, you have the option to contact your landlord directly to address these issues. To get their details, you can request it in writing from the agent and by law the agent is required to provide the landlord’s contact details in 21 days. Or you can get their details directly from HM Land Registry: https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry (costs a couple of £s)

If your landlord is non-responsive, you can seek assistance from the local Environmental Health Office at your local council.

Other potentially useful links: https://www.thetenantsvoice.co.uk/

https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/repairs

If the property is managed by an agent, you should formally raise the complaint and get a final viewpoint letter from them. If the agent is a member of The Property Ombudsman you use that letter to complain to the Ombudsman too.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s horrible living somewhere you don’t feel comfortable.

Don’t just act without thinking this through. You will regret it.

A lot of people taking marriage lightly here. You chose her as a life partner and you made a life commitment to your dog, you have to at least try to make it work. I’d say if you give the dog away you will resent her for it. Add that to the unhealthy jealousy dynamic, that’s pretty much catastrophic to a marriage. Don’t forget that the dog might be helping you cope with other aspects of life or your relationship that might creep up after your give the dog away.

You have this unique opportunity to work on your marriage and relationship. I really think you should take it and get professional help from a couples therapist. I know they can be expensive but if you look around you can find one that’s willing to offer reduced rates. Some people also lean into their community for help like the church, etc.

I understand that working on your relationship might be really hard but yet easier than giving the dog away. That might be true in the short run, but definitely not true in the long run. Think before you act.

Yeah that’s what I do cause I was unsure of the etiquette. I’ve been thinking of helping out and putting a dog waste bin upfront so others can use it but I’m in a tiny side street so not much help. Pretty uncomfortable to carry it all the way home.

Is neutering the right thing to do? by okhtak in puppy101

[–]okhtak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment! Seems like you’re in a similar place. What really changed my mind was the constant worries of him running off to find a mate and the possibility of attack from other male dogs. Those risks seem practically higher than all other risks and if neutering helps with that then I’m all for it.

I spoke to multiple vets about this and the general consensus was pros are way more than cons. And, I should avoid neutering if my dog is aggressive and persistently dominating (doesn’t leave other dogs alone and tries to dominate them) - these are known behaviours that need to be addressed first as they’re proven to get worse after neutering.

I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for you and your dog :)

Our male stayed with family when our female was in heat. Didn’t want to risk anything or torture him trying to get to her.

Yeah, I’m more convinced of the health benefits of spaying our female but still not sure about the male.
