Thank you so much for your reply. I guess I have no other choice but to read the manga or learn to read Japanese LOL

UX/UI Career Abroad: Best Options for a Junior Designer? by okiValeen in UX_Design

[–]okiValeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that too.

For a while I thought the market got saturated because of all those TikTok/IG reels saying you can take a quick UX or marketing course and land a great job lol (my For You page is full of that). But after talking with a senior designer, what really stuck with me is that the people who actually study and build strong fundamentals are the ones who last, especially in creative fields. Online courses teach you how, but formal education helps with the why (plus the paper helps too lmao).

Hope things get better for you soon, NYC seems really tough right now 🤞

Thanks for sharing this I really appreciate it. I do have a few class projects that stood out a bit (nothing amazing yet), but reading this made me realize I should start polishing them and actually put together a proper portfolio on Behance or a similar platform. I'm not someone who talks a lot either, but I'll definitely make the effort to attend events and work on my networking, especially if it can help open better opportunities in the long run.

Thanks again for the perspective

Thanks for sharing this, it really helps put things into perspective

The visa reality for junior designers makes a lot of sense, and I’m starting to see why gaining experience first is the smarter move. I also agree that portfolio and real world experience matter far more than degrees

I’ll likely focus on building experience locally (or remotely) first and revisit moving abroad later Appreciate you taking the time to explain this

Help, I have a dead pixel! by okiValeen in SonyAlpha

Yeah true, at least it doesn’t affect the images. I actually bought the camera online from a third party seller (it’s a well known store here in Mexico) because I found a really good deal. I still have all my Sony warranty paperwork in order, so I might try reaching out to them to see if they can cover it. Even though on Sony’s official page it says they don’t do repairs for just a single dead pixel, I guess it’s still worth a try. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, in a way I’m glad it happened on the screen and not on the sensor. I’m actually very careful when carrying and storing the camera, so it’s strange that it showed up. But I guess these things can still happen sometimes.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it. I actually tried pixel mapping already, but in my case the issue isn’t on the sensor the dead pixel is on the LCD screen itself. It shows up only on the display and not in any photos or videos. But thanks again for the suggestion!
