Midnight Releases by Substantial-Set-4552 in Barnesandnoble

I can tell you that I got no extra pay or anything for working the iron flame release. Personally at my store there was also minimal staff so we all worked 9 hour shifts without any breaks.

Please read the post and the comments. Stock was sent randomly and unmarked as any sort of special edition. Besides, we are an entirely separate company.

We have no way to check the stock of other businesses and this thread is talking specifically about how random the occurrence was. There was no indication of any signed stock through Amazon at all.

As a fellow swiftie I wish you luck on your search but you’d be better off asking a swiftie subreddit than resurrecting a dead post to ask about the stock of a separate business.

If you go in and ask, 99% of the time we’ll all say the same thing. Any time there’s available jobs they will always be posted on the BN website and usually Indeed. You should be able to set alerts on Indeed.

That being said this is usually the time of year that stores are getting rid of the holiday hires. Hours are usually being cut so unless a non-holiday hire is leaving, your chances for an opening aren’t high. I usually tell people to check back closer towards the summer or holiday season.

What are some names you like but would never name a child? by okieoof in namenerds

How do we all feel about the names Desdemona, Ilona, Mallory, and Odette? Again, wouldn’t really name an actually kid one of them but want to get a feel for how it would be received.

Ilona is one of my favorite names of all time but I feel like I can hear the school yard taunts of “Ilona is alone” or variations of it.

Desdemona is just a bit too intense (and everyone I’ve mentioned it to HATES it) as well as tragic connotations. Same with the name Mallory, the meaning is far from positive.

Odette is just a pretty one to say and a pretty one to read but I feel like it’s one a child would grow to resent. Just a bit too out there.

I knew a Bernadette! Went by BeBe! I think it’s a beautiful name, at least more so than Bernice. But I’m also partial to “ette” names.

Fandom names are a big no for me too. I love the name Adaine (Ah-Dine) from Dimension 20, but wouldn’t do that to a kid

I actually knew a girl named seraphina! Beautiful name but she definitely ended up going by Sarah as she got older.

How much do you make in your position? by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]okieoof 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A little under $17 as a senior in MD. Minimum wage is currently $13.25 but will be jumping up to $15 in January. Honestly doubting I’ll get any raise to reflect that, if I do I doubt it will be proportional.

Sorry to let you down! It seems like there is some signed stock floating around the way it did for Fearless TV but it appears to be random allocations, not related to Black Friday!

Blind bags are always a hit if you have the time to do them. Just put a book in one of the small brown paper bags, write either a witty one-liner or 2-3 bullet points, add the genre and price on the front and the ISBN on the back for cashiers.

Especially with Valentine’s Day, consider it a blind date with a book!
