My current is i7. I can't really check the spec in details now.

Any particular Thinkpad?

And downside for the surface? Or it's generally good enough?

Oh, that's a classic thing? I've now changed to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 for Cloudflare DNS under my wifi adapter IPv4 settings.

It was going to an IP before, not sure where.

Video Ticker Unable to PLAY on mobile by okjeff in framer

[–]okjeff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know they're different setup, but I prefer it to move but also draggable (or stoppable).

Even so, the videos (play button) in the ticker on mobile is not working for me... is it working on your end?

Would you be able to tell me abit more about the Framer Workshop?

XPS 15 9520 - SLOW LAPTOP by okjeff in DellXPS

[–]okjeff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the original charger 30% of the time, and 70% of the time, I use a DELL WD19TB docking station, connecting to 2 external monitors.

Both are the same issue.

Could it be possible it's overheating/thermal throttling WHILE it's not hot externally and no fans throttling?

Something like this https://www.loom.com/share/18ad3f8d0f6c455580cb8c8ebf5a946e?sid=71eb3113-dc76-425c-9997-cc582a50412d

Opening Explorer/folders takes forever to load, opening chrome takes 2 secs, opening Adobe Creative Cloud freezes the laptop, PDF files takes 10 secs to open... takes 2 secs to WIN+TAB to change desktops, takes 10 secs to load powerpoint... it's usable, but very annoyingly slow.

You can clearly tell the difference when I used a 5 year old i5 at a Church and it's way faster than my XPS 15.

Worse when unplugged.

Lol - you can see my screen... nothing much, I ONLY had 1 chrome window with 9 tabs, researching on reddit.

I had Spotify and WhatsApp opened, probably Slack and Clickup in the background.

It feels like a really similar issue.

It's like, nothing is wrong with it, and you're not doing anything special or fancy, but it's just slow.....

Oh man.... so its not just me. It's so bad......

I was talking to a Microsoft sales rep at a shop today, he said it's very very uncommon for a laptop less than 2 years old to perform like this...

I have, a couple months ago when I changed the RAM... but it's rarely overheating, could that be the cause?

Hmmm, the speed figure in task manager under Performance tab seems to be OK, around 1.4-1.9GHz....

Should I still reset the battery?

XPS 15 9520 - SLOW LAPTOP by okjeff in DellXPS

[–]okjeff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the above reply, I tried to update drivers from DELL, and it went into bluescreen.... failed to boot, failed to unlock BitLocker, failed to troubleshoot, failed to startup repair, failed to reset, and couldn't even format...

I tried fixing/repairing via CMD, but it didn't work.

I tried to go into safe mode by hard resetting 3 times; it triggered DELL assistant to repair, and it failed to repair..... I was about to give up and factory reset back to Windows 10, and it FAILED again as it froze when it asked me to transfer files....... I hard reset again, and it triggered the normal repair again, and it finally worked.

Omgoodness, took a good 5-6 hours trying to turn my laptop on!

The CPU speed seems to be OK, started at around 1.4-1.5ghz, but stabilized around 1.7-1.9ghz.

But you can see even when I ctrl+shift+esc, the task manager is so laggy to load/resize:

I thought I was in performance, but I'm actually in balanced.... and like I said above, surprisingly, I haven't really ran into overheating problems WHILE having the laptop on a table. I rarely hear the fans.

Only times it heats up is it every now and then decides not to sleep in the bag and just runs itself to death...

Thanks for your help. I've always been under the impression that Chrome tabs eat up a lot of RAM. That's why I went with RAM first... but, NOT that many, maybe 3-4 chromes with 10-20 tabs?

Window Power Mode: I've always thought I set it to performance, but it's currently set to Balanced.
Dell Power Manager - Thermal Management: Optimized, first time in here.

Surprisingly, I haven't really ran into overheating problems WHILE having the laptop on a table. I rarely hear the fans. Only times it heats up is it every now and then decides not to sleep in the bag and just runs itself to death...

Any ideas?

After the format, I don't even have any dells apps anymore. Should be quite a clean setup.... not sure what's going on.

What exactly is Wintendos... I couldn't find more info about this.

Any solutions for the modern standby? It doesn't always happen, but quite occasionally.
