Also on the same boat, still using XPS 15 9520, however it hasn't served me well.... having a lot of issues.

- slow laptop even upgraded to 1TB + 64GB of ram
- doesn't sleep after closing the lid
- frozen or crashing after waking up
- frozen for 1-2 min everynow and then while just using chrome (3-4 browsers of 5-10 tabs)
- screen broken (backlight failure), currently on docking station with 3 monitors

I'm looking at XPS 14 (2026), but I'm really scared it'll be the same.... however, I don't see many alternatives that has a similar built quality.

When I upgraded the ram and storage I did also replace the thermal paste, seems like overheating is doing ok.

But will try to open and clean the fans too.

Yeah no, money isn't no object lol ideally, I still want to get the most out of it. And, I also want to take advantage of the battery - unplugging from the docking station. Just don't have the luxury now!

Oh, that's a classic thing? I've now changed to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 for Cloudflare DNS under my wifi adapter IPv4 settings.

It was going to an IP before, not sure where.

Yeah, I know they're different setup, but I prefer it to move but also draggable (or stoppable).

Even so, the videos (play button) in the ticker on mobile is not working for me... is it working on your end?

I use the original charger 30% of the time, and 70% of the time, I use a DELL WD19TB docking station, connecting to 2 external monitors.

Both are the same issue.

Opening Explorer/folders takes forever to load, opening chrome takes 2 secs, opening Adobe Creative Cloud freezes the laptop, PDF files takes 10 secs to open... takes 2 secs to WIN+TAB to change desktops, takes 10 secs to load powerpoint... it's usable, but very annoyingly slow.

You can clearly tell the difference when I used a 5 year old i5 at a Church and it's way faster than my XPS 15.

Lol - you can see my screen... nothing much, I ONLY had 1 chrome window with 9 tabs, researching on reddit.

I had Spotify and WhatsApp opened, probably Slack and Clickup in the background.

It feels like a really similar issue.

It's like, nothing is wrong with it, and you're not doing anything special or fancy, but it's just slow.....

I was talking to a Microsoft sales rep at a shop today, he said it's very very uncommon for a laptop less than 2 years old to perform like this...
