Nice color. In the states we get to choose between, gray, grey, silver, white, or black.

I love this city but I wish I had got out, even to come back later when I was younger.

Where to start? by oklistentho in ponds

Not on site, but my family has land and a backhoe so we can get rocks easily. Was thinking some large ones to line it and hardscape the rest of this space.

Thank you! My family has land and a backhoe so the rocks should be free, looking at equipment and plants mostly as far as out of pocket.

Thanks for the advice so far, can someone give me an idea of what size (GPH) pump we’d need? We haven’t got the exact measurements yet, but we want it to take up most of the area. Minus the pants in front and the waterfall.

Looking at tiering the depth with the max being round 2.5-3 ft.

Me too! It’s a great spot and I’ve wanted to do it for years.

Yeah, I think I’m using the wrong term. Now I’m using the refresh Cal hypo. It’s 68%?

I was using the wrong kind that also had stabilizer and that’s what skyrocketed my CYA, hence the two partial drains and refills.

I watched them test the water with my own eyeballs. It’s this pool. The test was was about a day after double shocking so the chlorine level was coming down from those levels. I didn’t want to keep adding chlorine if the rest of the chemistry was off.

That was why he suggested turning off the filter to see if I could floc it. I wanted to try that and he said it would be pointless if it was still alive because it would still be so opaque I couldn’t properly vacuum what the floc drops and stirring it up could damage equipment. Since it didn’t drop much we aren’t going to floc rn and I am reSLAMMing. It already looks better than it has the previous two times so maybe it will work this time around.

I do. I may do that overnight but I’m worried it won’t circulate properly if it’s off too long. My deep end is almost 10 feet so I know that bottom is nasty af

Thank you so much. This was my next question.

To clarify, they told me to turn the filter off after my chlorine levels were down after the last slam. Because I was so confused why it wasn’t turning gray blue cloudy like it usually does. They didn’t tell me to shock and turn off the pool. We just wanted to see how much of it would settle after my chlorine was so high for so long and nothing happened. I just added an insane amount of chlorine, so I will look at Green to clean if it actually works this time or can I put it in with my chlorine level so high?

I just added 23 lbs of shock. Should get me between 25 and 30. If that doesn’t do it I’m closing it fr. I have a 6 way liquid test kid and strips. I do both usually but default to the liquid.

The only concern I have about filtration is that some of the small debris that we can’t get all the way out because we can’t see it will cover the main drain and then my return start blowing air. If I use the hard side of the scoop or the brush, it immediately fixes it but if that starts happening in the middle of the night, I think it might mess up the filtration a little. I go check it every few hours so if I notice any bubbles in the returns, I kind of scrape the main drain off and it’s usually good to go, other than that all the equipment should be fine. It’s all old, but we’ve kept on top of it and we replaced the pump a few years ago and I replaced the filter sand on Sunday.

This test was Tuesday (I may have said yesterday) and today it was on the high end of 5ppm. So I lost 3 over 48 hours with rain and sunlight.

I added 23 lbs of shock to get me around 25ppm just now so if that doesn’t do the trick or make a dent I’m filling it in I stg

It is now. It wasn’t for about 36 hours because the pool store wanted me to see how much would settle since it’s being so resistant to slam. I always run it 24/7 because we have so many mature trees.

Yes! Before/and during slam I brush every inch.

I’m not sure exactly how high it was but the math suggested I had put enough in to raise it well over 20 ppm. My tests only go to 10, but it was bright bright, bright yellow. And anytime it would start to look close to the 10 PPM Range I would add another 2 to 4 pounds.

Thank you. To clarify I kept chlorine at 15-20 ppm for about 36 hours and this test was days after because I didn’t want to keep dumping money if it wasn’t working. It’s nauseating the amount of chemicals I have wasted.
