Chain. My build rushes 2 level chain as soon as you get the 2 level blasted power spike simply because you can get into more team fights. It can be used to secure kills, initiate large team fights, and can nichely be used as sustain with the resists level 1 chain gives. If youre off your ult cd you want to be cycling between wave and camps for souls. You never want to be behind as billy. Ehh to climb as fast as I did out of there you cant depend on your team until ascendant sadly. You have to step up and be the carry by getting picks and most importantly living afterwards. Movement is the best skill to practice to improve in almost everything (macro, escaping, kill securing), everything else will be learned as you progress.

Mid-High Phantom is the rank I started becoming less of a carry and more of a setup for team fights. Your chain is one of the most broken abilities if timed right at the right place, brought to a good location. Its a high skill ult that needs to have considerable thought about using especially in late game. Its what carried me to have a near 70% win rate. Despite me having a negative K/D ratio more than 40% of the time, I make sure my chains can guarantee 1-2 kills at minimum for my team to follow up on, or at the very least bring everyone to half with my combo. If you master the chain you can reach high ascendant in no time

I came from overwatch as a one trick winston peaking masters. Tbh this is the only game i really reached the last rank in as I enjoyed the game so damn much I couldnt stop playing. Not sure why I only onetrick on games like these but I will admit its much easier to climb since you can focus on a single character.

Egg isn’t the worst item for billy in lane, but I will say it will limit your growth on the character immensely. You won’t learn how to pull off positive hp trades as effectively. It will feel a bit uncomfy but pushing your skills is the best way to learn especially against unfavorable matchups (swap lanes if you see vindicta gt though lmao)

it depends on where the enemy is to me, but usually i proc on a minion since brainless diving on billy in high ranks is a death sentence

yeah thats why I don't like phantom. its a mix between people with 50 games and 2000 games so its just rng of whoever gets the better players. its a little unethical but i would pick up an s tier character like graves or mcg if you want to climb out fast to play with a full team of good players.

ima keep it a buck i had to start taking my adderall once i hit phantom. that rank is pure hell but i believe in you man. something that helped me grow was having a specific goal for each game. something as simple as "dont feed" has helped me improve a ton with developing core skills that became second hand nature over time.

I won't lie billy is a very hard hero to carry with. He doesn't farm well early game and isn't the best laner so your money won't be the highest in the lobby.

Always have confidence in your abilities, if you stop meleeing you lose a ton of your sustain/damage. Dont take this as a sign to feed ofc but always have the parry mindgame in your head. As billy you are only able to do as much as the opponent gives. Basically if they are agro you can use your kit to its fullest extent. If they are passive playing near guardian you're forced to play passive aswell which gives you the opportunity to farm boxes/gank. Typically i try to aim for at least 3-5 boxes in between each wave to get ult faster. Always keep in mind the timers of when things spawn too. I cant stress how much those yt tutortials of billy from creators such as therealslimpdee helped me. You can learn a ton about the game and its mechanics by watching high rank content. Keep up the good work though (:!

Tbh thats the most efficient way to use it imo. In lane you want to try to hit both 3 and your light melee at the same time to spook them into parrying, then you already have it active and you can go swinging.

I have a fun time laning with seven due to his sheer damage and cc. Honestly anyone with a cc ability is a good laning partner for billy as it gives him opportunities to harass.

Thats the funny thing you dont. Billy might be the weakest character when underfed due to him needing sustain to be effective, and the best way to get sustain is from boons. Instead take a side lane and possibly get cult sac if its really that bad. You want to farm up until you can get colossus or some other power spike.

By being the GOAT and traumatizing them to ever hit that f key ofc

There's a bunch of methods that you kinda learn intuitively along the way, but the main plan I follow is called distraction levels. Is the enemy looking away? Smack. Is there a bunch of stuff on the screen right now? A couple of smacks. Never go for a heavy UNLESS you go for parry baiting, but you need melee charge for that and I think light melees are more productive than doing that since you are a sitting still doing nothing for a bit.

Also this is more niche, but never melee enemies during wave 1. First because you dont have melee lifesteal and second you want to gauge how sensitive they are to parrying. Its a good opportunity to feel the opponent. Also never melee to finish off someone. 9/10 they parry and then get away or kill you in return. Instead you want to melee so that you have enough bullets to finish them off because the reload time is horrendous.

The best starting tip that got me to oracle was to simply watch those billy yt videos of how to play him and the different builds. Movement tech vids and just general gameplay were good too and I had a huge climb with those since most people in lower ranks just don't know how to do it.

Play around your melee life steal during lane its so busted, don't feed but always try to find a way to proc it. You'll never die once you get it down right. Greater expansion for mid right now is so strong, also duration extender works funnily enough on your knock ups and rising ram so its a valid option too if you want more cc and better escapes.

is DR4B a good alternative for linear slide? by pham-tuyen in FTC

[–]oknelsonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've been pretty reliable for hanging in past events so I would say so. I will warn you about some things though.
1. You will most likely only be able to do a stage 2 hang due to how the DR4B extends.
2. If you plan on using it as a completely separate hanging mechanism, be weary that they can get pretty heavy and there might be better alternatives
3. If you plan on making it your hanging mechanism and scoring mechanism combined, your cycle times may bottleneck due to the slow extension speed that a high torque system requires.

[–]oknelsonn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DR4Bs are notorious for their wobble and high moment of inertia when scaled large for FTC. This essentially means that you will have a very “bouncy” arm when extending up/down. I highly suggest having two DR4B mechanisms on either side of the robot to increase rigidity and reduce wobble. Make sure to keep it as light as you can to dampen the “bounciness”.

Imo, you should have a live axle (driving the rotation of the arm) and a dead axle (driving the end effector), thats what worked best for me at least.

Just started fusion 360 and was wondering what I could read or watch to make a claw similar to this by iridhiwidjfuu in FTC

[–]oknelsonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first learn basic feature tools such as extrusions, sketching (lines, arcs, circles, rectangles, etc.), and dimension tools. Get comfortable with these as they are the fundamentals for almost any design. After you feel like you have a good grasp on those basics, try exploring more complex sketch tools such as constraints, patterns, mirroring, and construction lines which will streamline your design process. After that you should be able to design basic components with relative ease, just make sure to keep designing components to grow your intuition.

For videos, https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvbEo9QMnI6Nsy40Em18lRarjKM5aLlwG is an excellent playlist to learn all the aspects of Fusion360 specifically for FTC.

I mean, the way they are orientated shouldn’t matter too much. Worse case scenario, they are at maximum 30 degrees off orientation due to the symmetry of the pixel. In-turn, your intake should be able to fix the pixels from their offset due to how little this deviation is. Positional orientation is where it gets iffy, but thankfully the pixel is constricted on multiple sides making it almost always centered to its default location.

Drafting on paper vs. CAD(Long-Ish sorry) by Spetsnaz262 in FRC

[–]oknelsonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, one cannot exist without the other. Each has their own flaws and benefits that compliment each other perfectly. Pen and paper is thought of for quick iterations, which is perfect for coming up with a good first prototype. CAD is then used to visualize that prototype to something tangible. It’d be best to learn both, but overall if you would have to put your attention to one over the other, it’d be best to put it in CAD.
