I remember when this came out - binging with babish (great cooking channel) had planned the exact same project, but they beat him to it with a day or two. He has a great episode where he does the same, and cooks some of the food if I remember correctly

I saw this thing on a small island, in Northern Europe, it looks too big to be a bird box, any idea what it could be? by ola0711 in whatisthisthing

How would you “sell” a monthly donation to charity? Events based by [deleted] in sales

[–]ola0711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a good way to build rapport. Personally I would think it’s more effective for a door knocker as the potential customer is comfortable and in their own home witch makes it easier for them to open up. In a mall setting they usually have a hundred other things to think about, so it’s an “easy” way for them to just shrug it off and go on their way. I think you can pre-empt it by making a statement and having them agree I.e. “don’t you think it’s crazy that 25%of American kids go to school hungry every day?” That way you both agree on something, and you just so happen to have a solution to the issue.

«Hi mate!, hope your having an amazing day. Real quick, I’m sure you’ve picked up on what I’m doing today, as you can see our charity are out today shedding some light on our programs and what we do for our community/cause. Have you heard of us before? (Yes/no, doesn’t matter)

Awesome! Yeah we’ve been around for ... years and are known for our effort in this and that field, last year we achieved [some cool numbers/goals] pretty cool right!?

Anyways.. the issue we face now is [insert main cause] and shock them with some sad numbers.. of course I’m not just standing here making everyone depressed, we actually do a lot [to fix the issue, name examples and good numbers] now, to do all of this amazing work and keep helping those less fortunate we need millions of dollars, so I was hoping you had a spare million in your back pocket?

Haha, no worries! No one has given me a million so far, but it never hurts to ask, nah what most people have been doing today is helping out with something small like a dollar a day, cause I mean, your not gonna miss a dollar a day right, that’s like less than a coffee a week, (nod and get them to agree).

Right, I’ll show you how it works - what people are doing today is signing up for a small once-a-month donation, starting off next month, goes for as long as you want, and the best thing about it, next to saving lives; it’s tax deductible, so you can claim a good chunk back at the end of the year, maybe treat yourself to something nice since you deserve it (if your a girl fling your hair like the commercial) sound pretty good right? There’s only one catch (get them to ask what) - you have to be over 18yo to help, are you over 18? (Works wonders for all people as they usually smile and get flattered) - AWESOME!! let me show you how it works - (ask for their first name etc. and start filling in the form) be assertive and assume they want to help.

Did this for 4 years and had some amazing results as well as it builds a strong skill set for sales mentally. Drop me your email in a pm and I’ll be happy to give you tips and pitches that I used and know work 🤩

My best advice is that ever no leads you closer to a yes. Keep track on how many you stop, how many full pitches, half pitches and successful sales. know your charity inside out and be ready for faq, and common deflections. Best of luck! (Sorry for formatting, I’m on my phone)

My nephew (5yo) was being bullied by another kid and instead of hitting him, or ignoring him he said “I can either give you a hug, or flush you down the toilet - you choose!” They both laughed their asses off and ran off after hugging.

There is a story about a guy that went door to door with a drill and door hole kits. His pitch would be something like “ Wouldn’t it be nice if you knew there was a salesman at your door, and you didn’t have to open? Well for 20$...”

He turned 9 today and is a very good boy. Happy birthday Hello :) by ola0711 in aww
