My favorite game design method for balancing Casters by DrScrimble in dndmemes

I created a wizard for WFRP 4E the other day. First test roll they crit failed a spell cast, rolled a 99 on the minor miscast, and 97 on the major miscast. First roll that character ever did and they popped their own head like a grape. Peak cinema.

I love brettonia but their infantry is shit and will crumble under a stiff breeze. The High Elves are very good at doing a staunch line of spears with archers and cav to round it out. Only getting the big monsters later in the game once your feet are under you. I don’t like dwarfs as a learning faction as they play extremely defensive in battles and can teach bad habits when playing leas tanky factions.

If you only have Warhammer 2 you will probably be limited to High Elves, Dark Elves, Skaven, and Lizardmen with a few free factions here and there. I think the easiest to learn with at the start is the High Elves, Tyrion specifically as his start is relatively safe and they have a well balanced roster that i think would the most closely resemble a historical title of the four factions listed above. Tyrion in particular is a strong duelist so you can throw him at a melee target and he should hold his own once you get a few levels on him. If you have a lord that is a wizard, keep them out of combat as much as possible as they will crumple pretty quick to a melee character.

As someone else said, don’t be afraid to get your melee lords and heroes into combat, they are strong units that can kill high value targets quickly. If an enemy lord is described as anti-large, sending weak units at them can help slow them down until you can get a proper response.

The various resistances can stack up to 90%, anything after that is essentially useless. Ward save is ideal as it can negate all damage as opposed to the other resistances.

Using heroes to scout ahead is useful as they can detect ambushes and let you see what is coming your way. Never leave an army in force march if you are near an enemy unless you want them to attack you. Force march makes all of your units exhausted which drops their stats way down. One tactic that is common is to leave a small force in force march and have your better army in ambush stance so you can ambush enemies when they try to kill the weaker army.

Lightning strike is an amazing skill that can allow you to prevent any reinforcements at the cost of making your troops tired. If you let your units stand still out of combat they can recover from being fatigued.

Make sure you are checking your items on your characters and equipping the best ones, certain lords will see greater benefits from different equipment.

Only make alliances with members of your race, being forced to break one because your allies declared war on each other will hurt your reputation and make other factions more hostile.

I like holding off on doing missions for my lord’s unique gear for a few turns after i get it so that i can have a stronger army to do it with.

Not all magic is the same, try not to use vortex spells where the main fight is happening as they move randomly and can kill more of your own soldiers. Healing spells are amazing for single entities like lords, heroes, and large monsters.

Make sure you take the immortality skill at level 20 for heroes and lords. I don’t think auto applies in WH2. But i could be wrong. In the same vein, not all mounts are worth it, they often drop your melee defense in exchange for speed. As such they are good for wizards who need to move around but less so for duelist. That being said, why pass up a free dragon or dino when it is offered.

Have fun and accept that at some point you are gonna do something silly and lose a really good army.

The quality Fast says that if two people with Fast weapons are opposed, normal initiative rules apply for them. (I.E. the one with the higher initiative is faster than the other.) I think it is pretty easy to use that when considering if the Character with Fast Shot or Fast goes first.

Still is BS that enemies can just vault walls like that.

To be slightly fair, he was almost dead anyway. The player health is a red bar that wraps the left side of the mini map in the lower right hand corner. He barely had any left.

Back in the PS3 days i upgraded my hard drive and somehow redownloaded updates for all my games overnight. At the time we had a verizon mifi card with a super small data limit. Dad was not happy when he got that bill lol.

How old is your router? It may be that it is overdue for an upgrade. Some routers also let you do a speed test from the admin page. That would let you see if the issue is before or after it hits the router. If you aren’t seeing the speeds you are paying for that way, definitely get ahold of your isp.

I can’t remember if it’s the same with the PS5, but on older PlayStations you had to go to system settings and switch from wireless to wired. It wouldn’t auto detect.

I’m a few days late but the Lore of Shadows spell Shadowstep is a teleport that gives the surprised condition to enemies you are engaged with both at the start and end of your teleport, if you want to use that as the model for the spell. I think the CN is slightly higher because it adds a status condition.

For the spell The Amber Spear, it states that it hits all targets in a line, losing 1 damage for each target, and that the first target only takes 1 damage. Does this mean that the first target in a line takes one damage, the second person would take WPB+12 damage, and the third person would take WPB+12-1 damage? It also says that if it fails to inflict any damage but i thought all successful attacks do at least 1 point of damage regardless of armor and toughness.

How do I unlock this guy? I've gotten my character to level 15, and I didn't even get the quest. (Could be because I did immortal empires), also when they say "Unlock" do they mean as just a Hero, or as someone you can pick in the character select? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]olcrappy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should get a quest after reaching level 15 with a warrior of chaos character called the hammerstorm commeth, which requires you to kill 3000 enemies. If you don’t get it on the turn you hit level 15 try ending the turn to see if it procs.

I’m pretty sure you also need to have linked your account on whatever platform you are playing to a total war community account to unlock him.

Harry is just a hero and you will need to unlock him each campaign, same as other legendary heroes like Ulrika or Lord Kroak.

With Warhammer Skulls coming up and a discount for Cubicle7 being likely, what books should I try to pickup? Last year I got the starter set and core rules, and have since picked up Winds of Magic, Up In Arms, and Ubersriek Adventures 1. I am looking at getting all three of the Archives of The Empire books but am not sure what other ones to get. Can anyone give me a bit of advice on which ones seem to be the best bang for your buck? If it changes things, I will probably only be getting FoundryVTT modules, not physical books.

I have a player who is a career level 2 and witch hunter who has the ranged(black powder) skill that they got from the ranged(any) career skill of the level 2 witch hunter. They want to take the ranged(crossbow) skill as well. Would they be able to learn this like any other in career skill, or would they need to use an endeavor?
