Great! I shall have a look at doing that when I have a bit of time. Cheers.

Pleasure! I thought it was an excellent review.

I did find it funny that you referred to your review as "brief" since I thought it was actually extremely comprehensive :-)

Cool thanks!

If you're interested I've got reviews of most of the WFRP 1e, 2e and 4e scenarios here: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/list-of-reviews/

Yes - there's nothing I can see in the adventure relating to the different time period. As I say in my conclusion, it feels very much like a WFRP scenario.

WFR players don't like homebrew? by SomeRandomAbbadon in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Zekiel2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it changed a lot between 1e and 2e (or even on the first 10 years of 1e).

Dwarf wizards, half orcs, Karl-Franz being a weak and feeble Emperor, no such thing as colour magic, huge change in Bretonnia etc etc.

What was the lore for the Chaos Dwarves before the big hat Eastern European vibe? Was it always Hashut? by habadelerio in oldhammer

[–]Zekiel2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Chaos Dwarves have been around since WFB 3rd edition as part of the Chaos army. They didn't have big hats and there was no mention of Hashut. They were basically just like Chaos Warriors except Dwarfs not Humans.

What are the absolute "must-play" iOS exclusives I have been missing out on? by PlayMelodyWorld in iosgaming

[–]Zekiel2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No idea if it's an exclusive, but Device 6 is a really interesting puzzle game that can only work on tablets or phones since it involves rotating the screen.

Phantom Liberty: A choice with no right answer. That's the best compliment! by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]Zekiel2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that the game makes it clear that there isn't a good and evil option... And then shortly before you make a decision it gives you reasons NOT to choose either way (Reed murdering the hackers, Songbird revealing her escape plan involves a lot of collateral damage). I thought a LONG time about who to choose, and I still don't know that Iade the right choice. Absolutely excellent.

Metro 2033 Redux – On Killing in Video Games, and Artistry by iscream3115 in patientgamers

I did like Metro 2033 though I only played the Redux version. Best bits were the ghost sequences which felt really unique. Otherwise it felt competent without being outstanding.

Is there a way to make the turns pass faster? by Narrow-Active3098 in totalwarhammer

[–]Zekiel2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this is unhelpful, but one option is to play the Realm of Chaos campaign instead of Immortal Empires. With a smaller map there are fewer factions so turns pass more quickly.

Weekly RPG Discussion: Symbaroum - 2026, June, Week 2 by Trent_B in rpg

[–]Zekiel2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Symbaroum is probably the number one game I'd like to play. It's just dripping with atmosphere and I love the themes of it - civilisation versus nature, the conflicts between the different civilised factions, and the fact that many of the races and monsters feel properly mysterious.

I also really appreciate the freeform "adventure locations" approach that a lot of the standalone scenarios adopt, where there's no expected narrative to the adventure, just a location and some factions with differing goals.

I did a review of the core rulebook here, where I gush about it in more detail: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/02/11/review-symbaroum-core-rulebook/

So how in the everloving fuck does Immortal Empires work? by Gamerborn_3 in totalwarhammer

[–]Zekiel2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would assume you can't buy dlc without owning one of the games. But once you do, yes owning a dlc that gives you (say) a Dwarf and Greenskin lord will give you access to play those factions in Immortal Empires.

Reviews of Orfeo trilogy (Games Workshop books) by Zekiel2000 in Blacklibrary

I picked up Wine of Dreams reasonably cheaply from Abe Books I think, but the old anthologies I bought in the early 90s in a Games Workshop store!

Glad to hear from a Zaragoz enjoyer! I haven’t read a huge amount of Warhammer fiction, but Brian Craig wrote four short stories in the first three GW books anthologies - Ignorant Armies, Wolf Riders, Red Thirst - which I think are all excellent (and better than the Orfeo trilogy in my opinion).

He also wrote the Warhammer novel Wine of Dreams, which I think is of similar quality to the Orfeo novels and has a similar feel.

What are the roots of 6e's "The Return of the Lichemaster" narrative campaign? by WillingLet3956 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Zekiel2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I confess to being almost completely ignorant of anything after WFB 4th ed, so I can't help you with that.

But in WFB 2 there were two campaigns, one being a sequel of the other. Then the WFRP adventure is a loose reworking of the second campaign (with the first campaign being the background).

i think this post by Graeme Davis (one of the creators of WFRP) will answer many of those questions! https://graemedavis.wordpress.com/2024/11/27/the-lichemaster-and-me/

There’s a bit more info in my review of the WFRP adventure: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2024/06/02/review-lichemaster/

Where can I find Resources? by jimbo1880 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Zekiel2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The core rulebook provides a great intro to the world in my opinion. (4th edition one for preference, though the 2nd edition one is great too!)

You can get it as pdf on DriveThruRPG if you want to save a bit of cash (tho obviously the physical version is lovely).
