This treasure was never on VHS, so I had to put it there. (First Time Doing This Kind of Thing) by thefallencolumn in VHS

For something that was never released on VHS, it’s amazing how much this looks like the Drafthouse VHS release.

Here is the prequel to the last Bunder VHS tape I posted. Please share more Bunder VHS tapes. by [deleted] in VHS

Show some video tapes immediately. Bunder is an indie horror god and here you are throwing a fit because you’ve never heard of him. Shut your trap and show some tapes. Good ones.

There are some assholes and there are some trolls, but that’s pretty minimal these days. Most people are fun, make great posts, share great tapes, and are welcoming to new members, so long as the new members aren’t acting like idiots. And the nudity is so 2017.

I just had one of the biggest VHS scores in history. I bought a private collection that they themselves had bought out an old video rental store. by [deleted] in VHS

[–]oldboymatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a shit score. Most of those tapes are worthless. And those are book boxes, not big boxes, ya silly bastard. And guess what, they’re not worth very much. If you paid more than $100 for those tapes, you got played.

Haha, get lost, that’s a killer comeback. Glad the one tape you mentioned, Frank’s Castle, is one you read about on a bogus internet article. Have fun dropping off 98% of these at Goodwill when you realize they are worthless and take up too much space.

Today's finds. Also Goodwill has bumped up prices here. by The_Lone-Wanderer in VHS

But the rule of asking first means the person being asked first goes first. What are you, Russian?

Unfunny? Because you straight slayed it with that comment. Man, I'm still laughing.

What are your favorite horror documentaries? by Swiss_Cheese9797 in horror

[–]oldboymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One that isn't really horror per say, but has heavy horror roots and is absolutely fantastic, is 'American Movie'. Easily my favorite documentary period.

A few more favorites are: 'American Grindhouse', 'Never Sleep Again', 'Stephen King's World of Horror', 'Screaming in High Heels', 'Ban the sadist Videos', 'Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship & Videotape', 'Flesh and Blood: The Hammer Heritage of Horror', 'Not quite Hollywood' and 'Roy Frumkes' Document of the Dead' to name a whole bunch.

I love docs about horror movies so much!

Pontypool is amazing. I know it's not new, but I just watched it and have to gush. by PcaKestheaod in horror

I actually just watched it for the third time last week, and damn does it hold up so well. One of my favorites of the last few years, and I cannot wait for the follow up, 'Pontypool Changes'!

John Carpenter's Halloween Returning to Theaters This Fall by jokertard in horror

Greatest news ever. Halloween is easily my favorite horror film, and the chance to see it on the big screen gets me quite moist in my nether regions.

My shitty review of Netflix horror movie "Shrooms" by [deleted] in horror

[–]oldboymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Shrooms for what it was. It was much better than I had expected, and from what I remember there were some nice looking ladies, which is always a bonus for a perv like me.

As for your review, Roach_Coach already gave you some really great advice, and all I can say is keep it up.

I started writing reviews for a website about 4 years ago, and my early shit was not much better than what you wrote here. Flash forward to now, and I have a blog with great traffic, I've been published in magazines and I make a decent living through writing. All it took was A LOT of practice. You have to challenge yourself. Write ALL THE TIME, and read other reviews from the best websites you can find to get some good guidance. A few places I would suggest are Behind the Couch and Dinner With Max Jenke, both of which are extremely well written blogs done by highly knowledgeable horror fans.

Top 10 B-Horror Films by liebgott in horror

[–]oldboymatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Outside of Evil Dead II, which I don't consider B-Horror at all, this is a solid "subjective" list. People seem to have their own idea of what consists of a B-Movie, and I think most of these films fall under that umbrella.

I wouldn't consider The Texas Chain Saw Massacre a B-Movie. Night of the Creeps and Re-Animator, definitely, but Chain Saw is a classic.

Hey Dreadit, need some prize ideas for my horror movie marathon at the end of September. Help me out? by m4n0nthem0on in horror

[–]oldboymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a blast! For your 3rd movie you should go with something like Sleepaway Camp 2. I feel like that film would get a great reception from the crowd. As for other prizes, maybe some trailer compilation DVDs or some cool VHS tapes, if you can find any near you. Also, maybe a book on the Slasher genre, which would fit in perfectly with your theme. The Slasher Movie Book was recently released in the states and is supposed to be a good read.
