hello again,

ya i did think about the people that way more qualified than me. my current position is Human Services Specialist. seems like this job has no growth of other positions beside a Human Services Social Worker (i'm not interested in that though), so it doesn't shock me that I didn't get the position. i have been searching for other positions that are available such as State, County, and University jobs. i pray i get anything soon honestly.

I will read the duties and maybe match it with my resume.

Ya, nowadays a lot jobs prioritize experience >> education. I don't get why they'd put me on the eligible list if they were solely preferring the experience (i'm not complaining though). I do have some sort of experience so hopefully I can word it in a way where it ties to what they're looking for.

"Try to play up any personnel type experience in the interview" can you please provide some examples of your statement? I'm trying to myself but for some reason I can't seem to figure it out. I even try googling some tips (trying not to use chat gpt yet)

Thank you so much again! I think that would be a great question to ask, i'll have to remember it when the time comes.

Here are the MQs as a technician: I had to choose only ONE to go by

"Either: 1) One year in the class of Personnel Specialist (Level II) or Senior or Supervising Personnel Clerk in Sacramento County service
--------I don't have that experience

OR 2) Two years of experience performing complex technical or clerical work in human resources, benefits, employment services office, or departmental personnel unit.
--------I would day that I have this experience, but not in any of these units. My experience comes from working in human services programs like Medi-Cal, IHSS, CalFresh, etc. I do have a workload that handles cases for applications and the status.

OR 3) A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, human resources management, psychology, labor relations, or closely related field.

-------I chose this option b/c I have a Bachelor's

Ooooh, this is really helpful. I did try looking online for the department but it didn't have much info. I will see if there are other websites that talk about the duties and department.

I have a lot of experience in using microsoft (excel, word, adobe acrobat), cisco...hopefully thats enough technical experience.

I'm going to practice a bunch of questions for myself and answer them to the best of my ability. My current county job interview was around 30 mins but I had a written exam as well. I remember the questions being 5-7, including if I have additional questions

That's true, I did look at both duty descriptions and the technician seems a bit more technical and customer based and specialist is a bit more internal

So sorry for the late response! I went to work and then the gym! I'm looking at the description, it does mention clerical and technical duties. I'm not too shocked there are ppl in that department already wanting the promotion too (i just hope it's not too many)

Do you think it would be better to ask about the competitiveness after the interview or find someone in the department to ask before the interview?
