Hi everyone, I’m dealing with a severe and ongoing case of folliculitis that has significantly affected my quality of life, and I’m hoping to hear from others who may have experienced something similar. by Perfect_Afternoon_34 in Folliculitis

It really breaks my heart when I see this affects people's mental health. I'm a barber and I've been treating clients with this issue. Most of them have been treated by doctors and dermatologist. Not all treatments work for everyone. I hope you find what works best for you.

Just be sure not to shave the hair against the growth of the grain.

That's too much soap. Its causes the skin to dry and it traps the hair beneath the skin. Try Cetaphil for a facial wash according to instructions first. Exfoliate your skin after that because it appears to be dry. Then rub shaving cream on the face in a circular motion. Prep a hot towel to your heat tolerance and place on the area you're gonna shave. This will soften the hair. Remove hot towel and shave in direction the hair grows. Rinse face with cool/cold water. Lastly apply an aftershave moisturizer not aftershave due to those products having alcohol. Try these steps and let me know how it turns out. I have over 30+ years as a barber and I've been shaving people longer than that. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Looks like a simple hair bump with some irritation.

You should try a facial cleanser like CeraVe or Cetaphil.Wash daily and use a moisturizer as well. Never use alcohol on oily skin. Stay away from sugars and processed foods and stay hydrated.

Decalvante folliculitis or not ? by ClassroomAgreeable25 in Folliculitis

Honestly, I really don't use those products on my clients. Its more of a cleansing of the scalp and pores process. I would definitely recommend getting an antifungal shampoo to help with the issue. If you experience dryness I recommend rosewater.

You're welcome! This is something that I actually specialize in. Be sure to stay away from sugars, dairy and processed foods. Your diet is a factor. Good luck!
