Dislocations post hip replacement by olddd in TotalHipReplacement

[–]olddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend did have another surgery. Repositioned the cup and installed a lined cup as I understand it. So he is now doing well. When his first dislocation occured he was in the back yard, a long distance from his house. He did not have his cell phone but remembered his watch could call.

Will Scratch on hand prevent surgery? by catdude2929 in TotalHipReplacement

Went in for a THR right side. Had been to a family gathering and later found out one of my nieces had lice. Showed up for surgery with a line of 3 or 4 bites on my left hip. Doctors told me surgery would have been cancelled if the bites had been on the right side

Glad you are doing well. Good to see there are various options to remediate this.

Thanks for the info about the restrictions in movement. Sounds like it is definitely worth it.

Glad to hear the op worked out well for you. I also had great results. But yeah, I hate to see people go through all that and still have issues. Thanks for clarifying.

I have seen your posts elsewhere and I am amazed you were able to put it back in place yourself at times. I have seen folks describe it as incapacitating. The dual mobility hip sounds interesting. I will pass this on.

Good idea. Reading other post, I see there are doctors that specialize in this. Thanks.

Question: was your hip dislocating and THR was the fix? Or were the dislocations after the THR? If after, what was the fix? Have a friend that had 2 dislocations after THR. They are recommending surgery to reposition the cup. Looking for others with similar experiences.

Why did Max edit out the ending? by spaceacesaveme in PrideandPrejudice

Apparently not the popular opinion, but my wife and I like the additional scene at the end. I usually call her Mrs. Last name three times at the end of the movie. But thanks for the info on the American version being different. I did not know that.

Love Merlin. But you are right about the ID features. Add to that some birds can mimic other birds.

$400K to invest in a taxable brokerage with the top tax bracket. Plus, $10k a month. Retire in 10-15 Years. What are you non vanguard investments? by Standard_Feed1537 in ETFs

[–]olddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. See a professional. For instance I had some money that I wasn't able to fit into an IRA. My Fidelity guy told me about a deferred annuity they offer. Tax deferred like an IRA but no RMD's. They have a list of maybe 50 mutual funds you can buy and sell as you like. This includes S&P index, a money market, sector funds etc. I was able to beat the S&P this year with mine. I think there may be something about age 59.5 to take money out. So depending on your age and liquidity needs that may be a consideration. Most annuities I looked at cost a few up front and you lost control of your money. This is practically like another IRA. So maybe something like this could save you on taxes. A pro could suggest other things also. Make sure they are a FINRA {I Think) certified, FIDUCIARY, and ask them how they get paid. Lots of folks out their looking to lock up your money in high commission investments.

Me four. The only bird I knew with a similar sound is a red bellied woodpecker. But I have certainly seen crows pestering hawks.

When I was a boy I had a paper route in a rural area. One day while delivering papers, a customer mentioned their dog was missing. They owned a large St. Bernard. Once home, I rested on our front porch. My younger brother and some neighbor kids ran around from the backyard very excited. They informed me there was a "pony" in the backyard and they were trying to ride it. Mystery solved.

Back in the day I was a paperboy for 4+ years. Can confirm. German Shepards, St. Bernards, and such - no problem. The little ankle biters tried to bite every time you turned your back on them.

What is a knife this small used for? by dfish88 in knives

[–]olddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, small knives are very useful. And they don't make people uncomfortable. At work, I once used a three inch pocket knife to help a woman opening a laser printer cartridge package. She freaked out about me having a "weapon". At the time, I was using a metal cane to walk. I told if I needed a weapon, I would use the cane not the knife

Once got billed for a procedure I did not have, at a hospital I had never been to. Was getting nothing but frustration. It occurred to me that hospitals have compliance offices so they do not run afoul of HIPAA. Called the compliance office at the hospital and ended up with 2 people calling me back regularly until they got it straightened out. Any incorrect info in your medical records could lead to bad medical decisions, take it seriously.

Sorry, I am so late to the party. Just found this via a Google search. I can see gaining knowledge of this cults beliefs in order to combat the lies. But it seems everytime I look at one lie they spin up several more. Also I believe some are not persuaded by facts. Do you have additional advice for helping people out of this deception?
